Ok, I know this might not be to everyone's taste, but speaking of non-toxic slow burn romances, I cannot stress enough how this silly show ("The Righteous Gemstones") managed to successfully achieve this with these two bozos (an almost 30 year old virgin televangelist and his dimwitted ex-Satanist friend):

A smooth and organic transition from "Whatever they have is gayer than gay sex" (seasons 1 & 2) to a canonical romance in the second half of the third season (there's build up).

And. And. All this while giving us

one of the most unapologetically batshit female characters you've seen (Judy Gemstone),

catchy tunes that you won't be able to get out of your head.

Danny McBride's power.

Seriously, if you want a stupider (affectionate) version of "Succession," give this one a try.
