Beach au info: Homer and Margeās backstories, taking place before the au
Margeās early life and young adulthood:
After high school, Marge isnāt so sure what she wants to do, and her mother sees this as the end of the world. She has never been too impressed with her daughter, hence āyou never do anything rightā, but she knows one thing about Marge that could get her somewhere: sheās exceptionally gorgeous. If Marge was too stupid to decide her future immediately after high school, she would make her do what she wanted her to do: become a model. It could make her social status improve, and the profit off her daughters photos could get her expensive things.
Now, Marge is completely opposed to this, sheās seventeen, just graduated high school, she does not need her face on a billboard. But she doesnāt want to argue with her mom. She knows what happens when she argues with her mom, and her mom must know best, right?
Reluctantly agreeing, her mom pushes her into Hollywood, cutting all her ties from home off. At first, sheās just in a few magazines here and there, but as she gets older, her mother starts pushing her beyond her comfort zone. Some of the pictures get a bit *ahem*, and the lengths her mother are making her go is humiliating. But Marge will do anything to make her mother proud, and this is the first time in her life sheās seen her mother look remotely proud of her.
Years go by, and suddenly her mother gets cruel. Sheās gotten what she wanted: all Margeās profit. Marge is left with nothing, but feels gross for what she had to do for her motherās love, supposedly, only to just get hurt by her again.
Marge moves away back home, where she suddenly crosses paths with Homer. Heās seen her on tv, in magazines, and Marge is mortified. She didnāt know Homer Simpson was that kind of guy. But she hides it, because after all this time of not seeing him, she still likes him. She remembers him too from his band, they wrote a song about her (she thought, she wasnāt sure, but she wanted it to be true). Homer and Marge end up married obviously, but sheās never told him the truth about her past. Every time anyone brings it up sheās quick to dismiss it or get angry. Homer wonders why this Isā¦
Homers early life and young adulthood:
Homer grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere, as in canon. His parents didnāt really seem to have a good relationship, probably because of how his dad acted, but he was very attached to his mother as a child. That was until she left him unexpectedly when he was aboutā¦. Maybe six years old? He didnāt understand why she left, where she went, or legitimately what happened. But as he got older he started blaming himself for the loss.
As he grows up, he starts to meet his lifelong friends and confide in them, but he notices that girls really donāt like him, which makes him feel even worse about himself. He starts doing bad things like drinking and smoking because he wants to seem cool to his friends, but it gets to an unhealthy point as a teenager. He tried to bottle everything up and forget it. No matter how much he distracts himself with bad influences, the thought of his mom never goes away.
But then he met Marge (canon in detention) and their relationship soon started to blossom after prom. Marge filled the void his mom left, he was so happy with her. No girl had ever been kind to him before, much less in love with him. But then she was taken away from him after high school, once again leaving him confused and devastated.
To him, no matter what it seemed like heād always get hurt or abandoned in the end. Nothing was going to work out for him he thought. Marge promised to keep in touch, but there was never any word from her. But he started seeing her on tv and in girly magazines which made him worried. She mustāve been better off without him, she looked like she was living it up, and she was more beautiful than ever. But at the same time something told him there still was hope, it would just take time.
In their fifteen years apart, homer starts to explore his hobbies and ambitions, he forms a band with his friends (mostly a cover band) in hopes to get that same movie star status and get Margeās attention back. And funny enough, they did meet again, at a bar on the edge of town. she expressed her admiration of his music, and they spent time getting to know each other again. They definitely werenāt seventeen anymore, so they had a lot of catching up to do.
In summary:
In conclusion, I think he didnāt give up on her for so long not only because he loved her, but because of how she treated him. She always made him feel safe and important despite everything. She didnāt force him to change, she took him as he was (And the other way around). I know a lot of people think their relationship is unhealthy or whatever but I think they both work so well together and improved each other for the better.

Speaking of my grandmother; Nana maintained the reason I got the job on the Simpsons because she lit a candle and prayed before her dresser altar to the Virgin Mary.Ā Yes! I do owe thanks to my Nana.
