Is there anyone in the world who also thinks that The Bad Guys is one of DreamWorks Animation's worst films since it feels like that I am the only one?

Great, James Gunn gets no punishment for killing off Lylla because despite saying they want original ideas, people will just ignore them if an already existing IP is being treated badly.

In other words, humans now a days are hypocrites.

Animation fans are impatient reactionary hypocrites who rather complain about studios being evil while either skipping on good movies and wait for them to be released digitally or liking movies that are really poorly written tripe like The Bad Guys or Helluva Boss.

Wait, so let me get this correctly.

Instead of waiting for the film to be released so they can write the sequel (i.e. fix some of the problems of the first), they decide to write it before the film is released meaning that all the terrible writing and storytelling is going to be kept intact!!!

Now I can understand why people don't take animation seriously.

Honestly, this is not surprising seeing as some of the cast members mentioned that they've heard from producer Damon Ross that they were already writing a script for a sequel during the promotion of the first movie. It was only officially confirmed in March 2024.

HOT TAKE:

Spider Verse ruined animation by making it artsy and melodramatic for dumb young adults to like instead of something that everyone can enjoy. Sure, there are exceptions like Dog Man, but most of the time, we are getting more poorly written trash like The Bad Guys films instead of aninated classics that everyone can enjoy like Monsters Inc., Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs, or The Peanuts Movie.

Controversial Opinion

I think giving Rocket Raccoon a tragic backstory was a terrible idea from the start.

Not only does it turn Lylla into a poor man's Gwen Stacy but it also takes away the uniqueness of Rocket and turns him into another generic sadsack superhero that comic nerds can make pretentious video essays on.

Question for Animation Fans:

Why aren't there any independent animated web series made for families or kids? Most of them are made for "adults" or teens that think they know how to be adults. If we want to prove that we're better then studios like Warner Bros or Disney, then why aren't we expanding our audience to more then just teens or adults??
