Before I say anything, I just want to make it VERY clear that I don't have a side. Pokemon is one of the largest franchises on the planet, so nothing can really hurt it, and I don't like Palworld. Understood? Good.

So I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about the lawsuit Nintendo put forth against the creators of Palworld. In my opinion, Nintendo has every right to sue, but it's not for some petty reason that they can't have any competitors. No, where Palworld went wrong was in their character design.

I don't know about Japan, but in America if the portrayal of a product can be mistaken for another, it can be sued for infringement. Because the art style and character designs of Palworld are so eerily similar to that of Pokemon, in addition to the tangible violence of firearms vs the og fantasy violence, I believe Pokemon has the right to sue Pocketpair for harming their family-friendly image by confusing consumers into believing that Palworld is related to or supported by Nintendo or Gamefreak. Does that mean people are actually confusing the two? No. All that matters its more likely than not.

All this could have been avoided had Palworld not so blatantly borrowed from Pokemon's design catalogue, and instead opted for its own unique visual style.

Again, I don't have a side in this fight. I think Nintendo has the right to sue, but they're so powerful already there's no need. As much as I don't like Palworld, both it and Pokemon can exist without conflict. It sucks that this happened. No independent studio should have to go through something like this. (but really if they just tweaked that designs a bit I think this wouldn't have happened)

This is my boy: Aurumnus "Aurum" Keshir, Levistus Tiefling, Monk - way of four elements, ultimate good boy.

Partway through act two, Aurum died and became a shadow-cursed undead that the party had to fight against. That's where he got his facial scar. It hadn't happened yet at the time of the first screenshot. Don't worry; he got better. Also, he's celibate and isn't romancing anyone, which is way harder than you'd think.

I'm just assuming everyone puts the stress on the first syllable. I've always pronounced it the first way (Poh-Kay-Speh /'poʊkeɪspɜ/) as in Pokemon Special, but I heard someone say Pokespi recently, which really fucked with my brain. Bonus points if english isn't your native language and you tell me how you say it in the comments.

29 Days until Tears of the Kingdom Release. GUYYYYYYSSS THE LAST TRAILER IS OUT AND I’M SCREAMING. IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL AND INCREDIBLE AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS AMAZING AND THERE ARE DEFINITELY THINGS I DID NOT SEE COMING AND I’M SO HYPED I NEED THIS GAME NOW. Expect some analysis in the near future once because WOW.
