As I’m about to go to bed tonight, I can’t help but think about being a father and celebrating Father’s Day with my kids and wife. I know it will always be such a magical day filled with laughter and love ❤️

I can’t wait to be woken up to homemade cards and receive the little gifts that are made for me, I will be so so happy and my heart will be full❤️

I’m so lucky to have a kind and supportive dad in my life and I felt very blessed to be at home today and spend time with him and the rest of my family 😊

Three cards. You woke up to three Father’s Day cards on the kitchen table, standing upright & scattered throughout the setup of your brand new grill set and the breakfast spread I had woken up early to make you. One card from our son, who drew the two of you holding hands in blue crayon. He tells us all the time he wants to be just like you.

One “from” our daughter, who can’t speak in full sentences yet but *telepathically* told me to tell you how you’re her protector and the greatest guy she’ll ever know.

And one from me, writing about how, in every lifetime, I’d choose you to be the father of my children. Every time I dreamed about the man that would be my husband and my teammate in raising a family, it was the person you were to your core.

We’d decided on bowling as our Father’s Day activity. Our boy insisting on no bumpers because he wanted to “beat you the fair way”. Our girl in your arms lightly pushing the ball off the dinosaur ramp as you leaned down for her and squealing when she saw a few pins knock down.

Some rounds of air hockey and pinball in the arcade and an order of cheese fries later, we were on our way home for our yearly tradition of barbecuing in the yard. The kids and I would play cornhole while you manned the grill. We moved to the dining room once dinner was ready, unwinding after a day that was spent cherishing how special you were to us.

And you love times like this. Times where it’s just the four of us, having dinner together, watching the kids babble to each other.

Knowing that we made the two best people on earth.

Quiet, child-free moments where we could just be alone with each other were few and far between. So the minute the kids were sound asleep, I placed a hand on your chest to push you to the couch and straddled myself on your lap. My t-shirt thrown off my body, practically launching myself onto your lips to kiss you.

“Whoa—easy, sweets. I’m not going anywhere.”

“I can stop if that’s what you’d prefer.”

You’d smack my ass lightly and squeeze, letting me know that you definitely didn’t want me to stop. I’d lazily grind my core onto yours, feeling how warm you were underneath me and how much my touch was affecting you. Lifting myself to keep my weight on my knees, unzipping you and helping you shimmy your boxers down.

I’d slip my loose cotton shorts to the side, too hurried and desperate to fully undress, and guide you to my entrance to sink down. The stretch of you never getting old and always feeling like it was our first time together.
