This is the board game I mentioned in my previous post. This is not my picture either I got it from Google images. But you see those tall stack of cards, yes lots and lots of questions and there's an entire book of rationales for every single question. There's multiple choice Qs there's math Qs, select all that apply Qs. You going to get way more questions with this than and NCLEX review book. You can play so many times before you hit the same question twice.

I passed my Nclex!!!! I took it Friday July 14 2017. Found out Monday July 17. If you live in the state of Virginia read the last few paragraphs-especially if your school did not help you with the whole NCLEX registration process. It was a torturous wait. I got to say I do not like the process of taking nclex with my school and in my state. There are so many nursing schools and programs available and it seems that my school and program is one of the few that does not assist it's graduates in the Nclex registration process. Some schools do the entire process for their students. There was such a lag between steps for me, first I registered for the actual test itself and I did not realize that I then had to go to the board of nursing website and register with them, it took me a month to realize this because I had not received my ATT email. Then all I have to do is wait for my ATT email and it was such a long wait that my school had to intervene on our behalf. Before I got my ATT (and I'm keeping a mental timeline) from the last day of school to graduation was a month. From the time I registered and paid for the NCLEX to the time I got my ATT was about a month and three weeks-yep almost 2 whole months before I could even schedule. I don't know about everybody else out there but I can't study so hard without a deadline in mind. After two weeks of studying every weekday with nonstop questions and reading almost like I was still in school I simply couldn't because I did not know when my actual test was going to be and it was a major stress to have not received my ATT email yet. When I finally did receive my ATT email I scheduled my test for 1 month later because I had gone about 2 to 3 weeks without cracking open a book, and answering any form of questions. I needed to re-introduce myself to the material. Scheduling my test date and location was the easiest part of the process. So I studied and studied and there was one student who also failed the same class with me at the same time and we discovered that we scheduled our test at the same time on the same day. we met three separate times to study together and he had this game, it was a board game of nursing questions and I would highly recommend it. That game has thousands of questions and about 100 tips. I honestly only cracked my comprehensive Nclex review book once. Other than that I used ATI religiously. The day of the test was anti-climactic to be honest I had been studying for this day and the only thing that was off was I could not sleep the night before the test due to anxiety about the test. I got up to 86 questions before the test shut itself off. I don't know why I expected an email after the fact to let me know what my results were but apparently that is not how it works. Someone told me to expect an email. Pfft I live in the state of Virginia and my state is one of the states that does not participate in quick results for NCLEX. Quick results is when you can, after 48 hours, go to the Pearson website and pay for unofficial results. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to find out because no one told me anything!!! Not Professor's not counselors not other students I was in the dark about this thing so I went to google. Where I found this trick that apparently is sworn upon by hundreds of thousands of students. The trick is you go to the testing website, you reregister for another NCLEX and if you passed it won't let you pay but you have to go all the way to the end- you put your information in, your credit card number and you click submit and if you passed it will give you a message that says "our records indicate you have recently schedule a test...blah. Blah" bottom line I won't let you pay for another test. However my personality would not let me rest with just that trick. (FYI it did not let me pay for another test ) I overthink, I need verification, I NEED it to be official for my mind to rest. I did not want to go around claiming l passed IF there was a chance I did not and if even one article on the Internet said that this method did not work for them then I couldn't trust the method. This is a longer post then I anticipated but turns out all I had to do was go to the Virginia Board of nursing website sign in and initially on the sign in screen it said I have no pending licenses and the keyword is PENDING. There's a link that says if you have registered and paid for your license and you know longer see that there is a license pending then it may have already been issued and then there's a link you click on it you sign in again and voilà if you have been issued a license there it is on the Virginia Board of nursing website. It has your license number your issue date your expiration date... The reason why the state of Virginia does not participate in quick results is because the Virginia Board of nursing posts its licenses so quickly, apparently it's a significant difference in comparison to other states. My friend and I both passed.

This is a very helpful way to remember the vaccine schedule. I'll write out what it is, but the video is where the information comes from the true source and it helped me immensely. This is the link to the wonderful source; https://youtu.be/WrlVbDmCVyw USMLEshortcuts is the channel. It's not my channel. The arrows help, and this is actually a screen shot of her video. from left to right. _B for birth, and B for Hepatitis B _2 B Dr. Hip... (to be Dr hip) meaning at 2 months of age you get hepatitis B, DTaP, rotavirus, hemophilia influenza, IVP (polio), and pneumococcal _4 Dr. Hip... (for Dr hip.) Meaning at 4 months you get DTaP, rotavirus, hemophilia influenza, IVP (polio), and pneumococcal but NOT hepatitis B _B Dr hip in 6- notice this is the first one that doesn't start with the age is given, this follows a logical sentence pattern. (Be Dr hip in 6 [months]) meaning at 6 months a child recieves hepatitis B, DTaP, rotavirus, hemophilia influenza, IVP (polio), and pneumococcal AND influenza _1 mad HPV...this is the only one that doesn't sound like an actual sentence but it's ok. I personalized it for me by turning HPV into hippo playing violin. So for me it was one mad hippo playing violin. At 1 year a child gets MMR, hep A, DTaP, hemophilia influenza, pneumococcal, and varicella _ very dim at 4-6, just thing that between the hours of 4-6 is very dim outside. At 4-6 a child receives varicella, DTaP, IPV (polio), and MMR _@11-12 Tada human men, as this is approximately the age of puberty. @11-12 you give TdaP, HPV, and meningococcal _@ 16-18 men are boosted. License at 16, legal at 18.

So I realized in one of my study session that the reason I always want this to be a CCB is because it makes me think of diltiazem.
Gosh I get tripped up on odd things.
Diazepam
This drug eludes me, I don’t know why. I always want it to be a CCB or something for the heart. It’s just my mind doing a thing.
Anyway
For a diazepam overdose you would use flumazenil, it decreases sedative effects of benzodiazepines. However it can precipitate seizures and does not reverse respiratory depression.
Airway support may be needed

For IM injection of iron dextran Add 0.25ml air bubble to syringe in order to administer all the medication. The air will push all the medication out and into the tissues and do not worry you will not be administering air.

Leg cramps
I have this question that I got wrong. Q: it woman in third trimester of pregnancy visits the clinic for scheduled prenatal appointment. The woman tells the nurse that she frequently has leg cramps, primarily when she has reclining. Once thrombophlebitis has been ruled out, the nurse should tell the woman to implement which measure to alleviate leg cramps. A) apply heat to the affected area B) take acetaminophen every four hours C) self administer calcium carbonate tablets three times daily D) purchase a chewable antacid that contains calcium and take a tablet each meal I choose C, but the answer is A. Rationale; leg cramps can be from compression of the nerves from the growing uterus, Low calcium or high phosphorus. Now the reason I got it wrong is because C and D are more on the doctors scope of practice while A is more in the nurses scope. That's bull, I mean I get it. But I hate getting these wrong for this reason but again I get it

Maternity
Antepartum Multiparous woman may feel fetal movements as early as 14 to 16 weeks gestation A nulliparous woman may not produce the sensations until 18 weeks or later The first recognition of fetal movement is called "quickening" Quote: "Quickening is the term derived from an idea prevalent many years ago that some particular moment of pregnancy life is certainly infused into the infant. At the time this notion was in vogue, the first tangible evidence of interuterine life were in the mothers feeling the baby move, and the conclusion was only natural that the infant [became alive] at the moment these movements were first felt. "Received from Illinois department of human services by James T. Thomas, secretary. Date published unknown
