It’s a new University year and the new stage 1 Fine Art Student are all underway with drawing in the RLB 101 studio spaces. Great to have the students back on campus. Covid19 adjustments in-place and plenty of room to social distance while everyone gets going - good to talk about ideas, living through history and creative responses.

Experimental rotation animation - 1 minute sculpture drawing studies - Stage 1 Fine Art at Royal William Yard Studios - The students drawing around the 1 minute sculpture model, then the drawings were numbered and combined and animated. 1 Minute sculpture workshop after Austrian artist Erwin Wurm.

Terrific day of subject talks, university tours and interviews in the Fine Art department. Good fun in the half hour creative workshop with the Fine Art applicants - responding to the day’s newspaper stories. Here are a series of willow and wire responses addressing amongst other things - climate change, Brexit, Taylor Swift and the Australian Bush Fires.

Stage 1 Fine Art Workshops - Great day of drawing and experimentation - after Erwin Wurm ‘1 Minute Sculptures’ - Posing, photography and drawing. Really productive day of inventive shape making and observation.

Terrific Stage 2 Fine Art Exhibition opening at the ‘Under’ space beneath Karst.

End of Module Assessments with the stage 1 Fine Art students.

Stage 1 sculpture response workshops. A terrific day of making and ideas, working on the first module in the downstairs studios, developing 3D pieces with withys, wire and tissue in response to chosen pieces of text.

The second years are settling back into the Royal William Yard studios as the autumn begins.

Great experimentation and message making in the ‘Protest Banner Making’ workshop at the Fine Art Open Day. Good fun looking at the day’s newspapers and considering how to make a banner in half an hour - what do we all care about ?
