Hi, there. I’m wearing a shirt that reads “Kill Me”. If you saw me at a party or on the street would you promptly murder me? What about if I had a few drinks? What if I was walking alone at night? I’m guessing that you wouldn’t if you’re a sane individual. The cops wouldn’t overlook your crime because of what I’m wearing because that’s silly. I wasn’t literally asking for you to kill me based on my choice of clothing. Who would take that defense seriously?

My friends wouldn’t blame me for being murdered and my killer would be behind bars almost instantly. So, why is it okay to rape someone because they’re wearing promiscuous clothes? Why does THEIR choice of clothing excuse THEIR attacker? It doesn’t. You’re silly if you think otherwise. The less guilt on the attacker. The more guilt on victim. Stop. Victim. Blaming.

I can't totally get on board with this line of thinking. This is not intended as an attack on OP but nobody can dictate how people with anorexia 'should act'. I'm not going to deny that a lot of the skinny girls on Tumblr may suffer more from EDNOS, than specific AN.

   However, a girl who posts pictures of her flat stomach and is clearly begging for validation, can still be suffering mentally with exactly the same issues as you are. Just because she doesn't act the same way you do, it doesn't make her suffering any less valid. There are a million reasons why people might be posting those photos, and they are not for you to judge. The symptoms and facets of anorexia are so wide ranging that nobody can really provide a fool proof definition of how every anorexic will act.

I'm not sure what the point of this is, or where I'm really going with it. I guess I have a lot of feelings...

It took so much courage (liquid, and the real kind) to tell my parents. Their reactions were not what I had hoped for. However I would encourage ANYONE suffering from an ED to not do so in silence. Tell someone, anyone. Call a helpline, tell a friend, tell a family member if you can. You can't get better alone.
