I HATE it when parents complain about their child, ESPECIALLY if they say shit like:

"Why is my child so distant and unhappy? He/she has a roof above his/her head, a warm meal, I buy him/her everything he/she wants... He/she should be grateful, that's a lot more than some kids have!"

Okay, look — it's not that we don't appreciate the sacrifices our parents make for us, but there is a lot, and I mean A LOT more to feeling happy and fulfilled than just a place to live, food and money or materialistic shit. Have you ever, dear parents, considered that YOU could be the problem? What if YOU did or said something to make your child feel frightened simply by thinking of opening up to you, and you don't even remember? What if your child feels rejected because of how much you work or how little time you spend with them? What if your child feels overshadowed by that sibling you pay all of your attention to? I could go on and on asking questions that will make you feel like a shit parent.

So tell me then, does your child have emotional support from the most important people in their life? Does your child have parents who try to understand, even when you can't? Does your child feel safe living in the same house as you? Because if not, then it's time for you to STOP BITCHING about your child and do something to make your child feel accepted and loved.
