scene: The year is 2035. After a long wait, the first episode of the second season of The Amazing Digital Circus has released. I check into my neuralinked personal phone to log onto Youtube to watch the new episode. Youtube has been shut down permanently, along with every other social media site. If we didn’t, the ai generated cat slideshows would have gained sentience and plunged us deep into some sort of I have No Mouth And I Must Scream situation. While I am thankful, it’s also inconvenient to have to scan my eyeball every time I want to watch a show. Finally, I scan in. I think I got here before the content farms did. I can enjoy indie media in peace.
Suddenly, the piercing shriek of a nearly unpaid voice actor who sounds a little like Lizzie Freeman but isn’t actually her rings through my ear.
I was too late.
The latest track from that guy on tiktok has released. It’s POMNI X SPRAROINKLE SONG, with the new Digital Circus character. The sound of unedited synth keys fills my ears and I drop to my knees. It’s gotten into my brain. I can hear it. It’s gotten to the others too.
“DIGITAL CIRCUS BLIND BOX” it says, ringing through my brain.
“Yes, youtube content farm” we all say in unison
