   「but ten-nii and sora-nii aren’t home yet, are they? and they were supposed to be home hours ago !!」

     as old as he is, as old as he should be acting, chuutarou is far too reliant on his brothers to be comfortable alone. their great-great-great-ancestor may be in the room with him, but her presence alone could do little to comfort the anxious child. over and over, he could only think of the worst possible reason for their late return; maybe they got stuck in the middle of a huge, huge battle, or they met some bandits on the road- or maybe some prisoners got really mad and hired assassins to kill them and they fought and now-- !!! with a wail, he launches himself at their elder, hoping for some affirmation that yes, they would be alright and no, they weren’t all hurt and cold and alone on their way back from kyoto !!

not really a plot wishlist but??? i really want a character now who is completely 100% human and normal and has absolutely nothing strange about them EXCEPT that they have a supernatural / mythological sibling that they’re extremely protective of and even tho they are like??? really smart and nice and a genuinely good??? person??? they basically fuck over their life to protect their sibling anD I WANT IT TO BE YEARS LATER AND THE SIBLING HAS STOPPED AGING AND THE PERSON IS NOW KNOWN AS THAT REALLY MEAN GRUMPY OLD PERSON WHO HAS THIS BIG HOUSE BUT NO ONE HAS EVER GONE IN AND ALL THE KIDS ARE SCARED OF IT AND THEY MAKE UP ALL THESE STORIES ABOUT THEPERSON WHO’S ALL OLD AND MYSTERIOUS NOW UNTIL THE PERSON DIES AND THE SIBLING FINALLY GOES OUT IN THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER AND JUST LOTS OF SADNESS AND STUFF AND WOW

it’s  u n f a i r  how she won’t believe him, even though he’s never been anything but honest with her. he won’t lie, couldn’t even if he wanted to in fact, so why does she think he would???  she’s his best friend and best friends are supposed to trust each other. didn’t she? he definitely trusted her, would never think anything she said was wrong, so why can’t she do the same for him?

it’s been quiet, recently. while it hasn’t exactly been peaceful since the government started the reforms, these least few days have been devoid of drama and special events. even the newly arrived convicts seem to be of the mellower type; none have tried to escape in a while, at least. maybe some god out there, some sadistic deity, was bored out of their mind and decided that it’d be fun if something… explosive happened.

or maybe it was chuutarou.

whatever the cause was, these are the facts. after breakfast, ten-nii was called into town to take care of some important business that chutarou didn’t really understood. sora-nii went inside a few hours later to do some housecleaning for the coming of summer; shiro-nii, having been banned from cooking for as long as chuutarou could remember, had gone in to help sora-nii with one errand or another. and in the midst of this all, the youngest resident of the kumo house thought it would be a fine idea to go off and practice in his own, fully confident that he would be fine and that there wasn’t a need to disturb the rest of their small family just to watch over him.

this ended up being a very faulty judgement, he later found out, when one of the miniarure explosives he was practicing with was accidentally ignited right besides a small pile of mines he’d put aside for later. the following blast, while not large, was still terrifying to the twelve year old child, who was standing relatively close to the explosion. neither blast nor scream were quiet.

It gives the person the ability to read the translation if they hover over the foreign text.      he’s cheerfully obedient now, with hands clasped together on his lap and an extra effort in staying  p e r f e c t l y  still for chibi to work. she’s not only his best friend, but one of the prettiest girls he knows- chuutarou has nothing but confidence and absolute trust that whatever she does with his hair will be amazing.       ( and honestly? even if she decided to make it completely humorous and give him little pigtails all over instead, he’d still think of it as highly as if she somehow managed to do something amazing with his hair, like ten-nii’s! )
