I want them to point out where and when is there a pedophilic behaviour in the show, cause I seem to miss that. He barely touches her.
My problem with part of Violet Evergardenâs Fandom:
They: âGilbert is a pedophile, this type of shows encourages these immoral actsâ.
Me: Violet has killed hundreds of people, she was used as a tool, that encourages some kind of violence or mistreatment towards children?
They: It is fiction.
At what point should we take fiction seriously?

This analysis is fair, I also have the same opinion (I want him alive so bad).
However there's only one point people tend to overstimate, that is the one about the trailer where the eye with the scar can be seen. I love that trailer because it is very faithful to the novel, we can see Violet with those clothes that the playwright asked her to put on, same thing with her design in the brooch biting scene and those frames in which she uses her war weapon, an axe called "Witchcraft". Things that were not in the anime. So I wonder if Gilbert with that scar will be there in the next project. As I said, in my opinion that trailer doesn't look so linked with the anime script. It didn't really follow the novel and the character of anime Gilbert was quite superficial, but I hope the new project will give him justice. It has a great potential, the developers can attempt in something way greater and clever than the novel script, if they want to.
(they can't really erase a character just like that, can they?)
Now I just remembered when Cattleya saw Dietfriet for the first time and mistook him for Gilbert, so I wonder what Hodgins really told her. If he told her "Gilbert is dead as a doornail" she wouldn't have mixed the two of them (maybe?).
Sorry for the long text ~
Gilber is.................?? | Analysis & Spoilers |
Hello guys, this is my first time doing this & of course, sorry for my english.
This is gonna be a small but very small analysis to realize âthe truthâ.
To get to the point, Â one of the big question is: Is Gilbert alive or dead?
Episode 7: Analyzing a little Hodgins said that âheâs missingâ, he said to Violet âWhile we didnât find his body, we did find his ID tag under the debris and so, he was deemed missing in actionâ.
Episode 13: Violet goes to visit Gilbertâs mother. The nameless mother asks to Violet if Gilbert is with her, to which she responds âis with meâ touching the stone that he gave her. After exchanging words the mother says âHe passed away at the battle of Intenseâ and then Dietfried Bougainvillea (Gilbertâs older brother) says âThatâs it. That is why you had her to come here, insât it, Mother?â as if he was remembering and stressing to his mother that thatâs why she called her and thatâs what she has to talk about(?) and then the mothers says âIt was, Isnât it?â so she tells to Violet that Gilbert is alive, inside our hearts.
The trailer: Going back to see the trailer I noticed that in the part when violet loads Gilbert in her arms, changes gently to the eye of Gilbert as if he were remembering and if we look very well we can see that he has a scar, a scar of his lost eye .
The theory is that Gilbert is alive, I do not know how but he is, he pretended his death so that Violet could live without having to obtain orders from him and she could be free and understand that she is a human, not a tool.
Gilbert went home to see his mother and his brother and told them to follow his âplanâ, thatâs why when Violet went to that house, the mother asked if Gilbert was with her and that is why Dietfried said that later. Â
Gilbert also told Hodgins to tell Violet that he was dead and to take care of her.
So for me, Gilbert is alive, but let me know your opinion and if you have more theories.

A Violet fact
Soldiers shared their lodgings with others, but Violet was granted with a private one: Gilbert had to lock her inside to prevent comrades from sneaking in and attempting to rape the girl. Many ended up being killed by her before this measure was adopted.

I'm thinking about translating Violet Evergarden novels into Italian 'cause, I don't know, I'd like my people to know about it and I can't see any active translation project right now (maybe missed something? Let me know) BUT MY EXAMS GOT IN THE WAY.
Plus I need to do something while waiting for Gaiden translation and the new anime project, duh.

We normally decide how to pronounce an unfamiliar word by drawing analogies with English words we already know. For example, we knew how to pronounce â-lyâ from words like âslowly,â so it isnât too hard to figure out how to pronounce âbigly.â
But sometimes this approach runs into problems. In this case, there just arenât any common English words ending in -efe. A wild-card search on the very comprehensive dictionary aggregator OneLook yielded the following list of words: jefe, fefe, efe, hefe, okeefe, hogrefe, keefe, reprefe, tefe and kefe. Pretty obscurefe.
So we have to search further afield. Maybe we go for the Spanish word âjefe,â meaning âboss.â Maybe we look to a different vowel, as in âfifeâ or âcafe.â Maybe we look to other spellings of the /f/ sound at the end of a word, like âffâ as in âfluff,â âgaffeâ and âcoiffe.â
The problem is that none of these is a close analogue, making it unsurprising that several Twitter polls have found that people are strongly split. But it looks like the lack of -fefe endings wonât remain true for long. People have started smashing covfefe together with other words to refer to the covfefe meme. There now exists the âthreadfefeâ (a thread about covfefe), an âexorfefeâ (an exorcist of the word covfefe), a âpresifefeâ (president) and the slogan âIf u think youâre above covfefe youâre part of the probfefe.â
I wrote about the linguistics of why itâs hard to say covfefe for the Washington Post. (via allthingslinguistic)
