How do you feel about parents forcing their kids to go to church? Recently, my mother has been making me go to church after she found out I’m not as religious as she thought I was.

Thats very typical of parents when they found out their kids are drifting apart from religion. I know it sucks, but I don’t know, depending on your situation you could try and reason with your mother and say you don’t want to go and stand up to yourself. If that’s not an option then try to came up with other ways to not have to go, like say you’re feeling sick or you have to study, if you have other family member that thinks you shouldn’t go, talk to them and ask them to talk to your mother so she doesn’t force you to go anymore

Just a heads up I was a Hebrew Israelite and they take everything in the Bible seriously. They believe a black Jesus is going to come back and save the Jews. No no, I knew that, haha. It doesn't matter what you say to the person anyway, it's about what you feel on the inside. I just thought it wasn't a nice thing to dismiss someone's prayers for you, even in your head. Instead of thinking, "yeah, but that won't solve my problem." I would've thought something like, "Yeah, I don't think them praying will solve my problem, but it's so sweet that this person is thinking of me and hoping my situation will improve, and I appreciate that."

Kind of a shitty thing t'say. Not a believer myself, but if someone offers to pray for u just take it as a sentiment & appreciate that they're looking out for u! It's like when some1 says "I hope things get better" - that won't do shit to solve your problem, but they care enough to wish u the best and hope for a better outcome of ur situation. If someone wishes u well, they're usually just trying to comfort u, not erase your problem. So how can u hold that against someone offering their prayers?

I think you misunderstood me, I did not actually said that to that person. Obviously I know religion and prayer is how some people deal with their life’s issues and I know they find comfort and peace in it. So when someone says they’ll pray for me I know they’re wishing me well and hoping that I get better so I do take it as a good thing and I don’t start a fight or an argument over it, I usually just say thank you or something among those lines. But the thing is I don’t like when people say that to me, and that’s why I made that post, I just vented about it here I didn’t say that to the person

I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It's not enough to say that I don't believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing; I am offended by some of the things said in the bible and the quran, and I refute them.
