It's really difficult for me to get into Anime/Manga stuff that's genuinely enjoyable for me. Like me getting invested in that universe, stories and characters, with attention to details, the intricacies in the lore & the unique artstyle of some creators. No story is perfect. I know that, which is why I acknowledge the effort it takes for the creator to put down their idea on paper in the first place. It takes time & commitment to the craft. I commend that kind of determination.

But I think the last manga that I wholeheartedly enjoyed from beginning to the end was "Dungeon Meshi", or currently enjoy like "Hikaru Ga Shinda Natsu".

They kinda tap something personal in me, like being different towards friends & family & being alone with that feeling. The lore behind those mangas are soooo deep and intricate. They don't just focus on one theme. Like only on the dungeon raiding or the potential romance between the characters, but also the mystery behind the driving force of the plotline. I really love that attention to detail!

Whenever I try to find something new to enjoy, the majority of the stories don't seem to have the same depth I crave. Most of them seem to be overly suggestive/sexual or plain in their plotline. Like I'm trying to search female oriented protagonist in a fantasy/medieval setting & then ending up in a noble court intrique kind of stuff with everyone having essentially the "same face"-syndrome.

Maybe I'll draw myself my own story just to scratch the itch left behind by my most beloved stories, hahaha. Being creative is fun. And if you find something lacking it may be the fuel you need to put your own little story down on paper. Hm, I should practise some character design first...

Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.

Wherever you are, Lyra my little summer star, I love you always! Thank you for being the best thing in my life.

It's kinda hilarious to think about Asahi being so fixated on Zenos' attention & admiration while Zenos being fixated on the Warrior of Light for his urge to fight to the death calling them their first friend.

A cat who wants you to pay attention to them even while you're trying to concentrate on other important things (being a hero & all). Meanwhile Asahi is third-wheeling along this weird relationship, not hiding his distaste towards the protagonist.

A completely insane relationship triangle, especially if you are a ZenosWol shipper. It's hilarious!

Queen Sphene(s) of Alexandria

i’m so normal about sphene, like, totally normal

i don’t really have a theory or analysis to like, justify whatever is going on here, it’s just ~vibes~

but the vibes are generally based around the double reveal at the end of 7.1 and also just. identity + sphene in general

like

the sphene we meet is kind and good and genuinely lovely, and cares so deeply that she’d do unspeakable things to protect her people

she is also shackled to the wills of her masters/creators/programming.

she wants to protect living memory bc it’s her people, she was also programmed to do it

and if the part of her that wants to do it because she cares makes things a little to difficult or messy, the part of her programmed to do it can just. kill the other part.

and then if she is killed altogether well, just boot up a new copy like nothing happened

not to mention, the Original Sphene is a stranger to us? filtered through the memories of others and an Endless copy that by virtue of having programming, cannot be entirely true to who she was.

Somewhere deep in the very core of my being there is a very small part that shines like candlelight within a dark & silent place.

Despite all the pain & trauma I experience, despite being broken repeatedly, that flickering flame comforting me in a warm embrace whispering "I love you"s. Even though the world is/was shouting that I should hate myself, the bright little spark muffles those voices of self-doubt.

"Despite everyting, it's still you."

"In the face of countless adversities you are still here & I'm proud of you."

It's consoling to have a part of yourself still somewhat whole.

I'm currently reading Kimetsu no Yaiba & it has the perfect mix between levity & tragedy.

The backstory of the characters, villain's as well as the heroes', really fleshes out their personalities. It's quite a joy learning about them in detail.

The reoccuring theme of continuing the path that past people started & the memory of a beloved one being still alive within your heart is quite comforting to experience.

It's one of the few mangas that really intrigued me to keep on reading to its final conclusion! Also the art style is wonderfully expressive!

Can't wait of finishing it!
