Bow chika bow wowwww~
Hey ya’ll, so in case you thought I was dead over the past few months, here’s my excuse. xD  This is my third costume, and definitely the most challenging.  The armor set took me four months, and the energy sword was rushed in the last three days before Phoenix Comicon where I premiered it.  I decided to do a Halo Reach/Epsilon Unit rendition of Tucker, I’ve always preferred Reach’s armor style. Here's a little teaser of a few panels from a page I'm working on for a fan comic that I've had rolling around in my head for some time now...  Whether or not I'm just gonna do a few pages for my portfolio, as opposed to doing the whole comic, I've yet to decide... >3>
Also, sorry if Tumblr's messing up the resolution and blinding you with the sharpness, coloring it should fix that. xD;

Woah, a bud just told me that a few of my animations got some love on Nick Roche and James Roberts's Twitters!  I'm glad you fine fellows liked my work, it's made my day!  Part of what's made reading More than Meets the Eye a comic book experience like no other is how the creative staff has been interacting with the fans along the way, it's great fun. HI!! Your Casey Jones cosplay is amazing! can you please tell me how you made the hockey sticks?
I've been getting this question a lot, so I'll just post this up here for anyone who's curious!  Good luck to all ye who wish to have security policy-approved hockey sticks for your next comic con. xD
Heya! X)  Thankya so much!  The hockey sticks are actually just plain ol' cardboard, coated with fiberglass resin to both make it tougher, seal the cardboard (it survived the rain in New York muhuhu), and also add the amber tone that fiberglass resin has (makes it look more like wood, no painting required).
The "stick" portion of the hockey... sticks... were each cut out on their own, out of one piece of cardboard, then scored and folded to make a four-sided 3d form.  The "blades" of the sticks were cut out separately, no folding or layering required there (blades on real hockey sticks are pretty narrow).  Under the athletic tape that's wrapped around the area where the stick transitions into the blade, I added some foam and shaved the thickness down to create a smooth gradation from the thickness of the stick to the blade.  The foam was then glued onto the connecting end of the blade and jammed up into the hollow end of the stick, and voila! cx  For the final touches, I cut out stencils for the decals, smudged/flicked dark red ink onto the athletic tape, and finally added a dimensional weathered look to the blade by holding a can of black spray paint at arm's length away from the stick and applied random blotches and streaks (I made it darker in places where the stick would be more worn from use, like the end of the blade etc.)
As for applying the fiberglass resin (which you can buy cheap at Home Depot, nothing fancy), it's just painted on after being mixed properly with its hardener agent (which should be included, it's in a small tube in the cap of the resin container).  Be sure to use an old brush that you won't miss, because once the resin starts to congeal and harden, it's pretty much toast (I just buy big packs of cheap brushes, also Home Depot).  As soon as you mix the two resin components, you'll generally have about 10-15 minutes before it starts to gel up and harden.  You don't wanna be painting once it starts to gel, or you'll make it gunk up and it'll have to be sanded down once it fully dries (give it about an hour or so).  One layer was plenty, the cardboard soaks it up nicely (be sure your cardboard isn't flimsy, try to use thick stuff with a smooth surface).
Safety warnings:  Please do be careful, the resin will start to get /very/ hot in the cup you mix it in once it starts to transition from a liquid to solid state (SCIENCE).  Also, be sure to wear latex gloves and a respirator, you don't wanna be inhaling the toxic fumes; I also wear safety goggles, just to be safe.  If you get some of the resin on your skin, don't panic, just go straight to the sink and wash it off with some dish soap.
Haha wow, I'm incapable of giving short-hand explanations of things like this xD;  Hopefully I've made sense, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions or concerns!  I'm considering making a full tutorial for this costume with close-up pictures 'n all... I'll hafta see if I can carve out some time. X)

It's been a while since I've posted a drawing of an actual human being... for some reason, Bones demanded my attention.
