She was charged with multiple counts of destruction of property.

Guys. Last week my LFS was crashed into by a drunk driver. Their beautiful nano species tank at the front was completely destroyed and they are going to be closed for a month for repairs. The staff is so lucky not to be seriously injured. Please send good vibes their way. My heart is breaking.

The Struggles of Working at a Pet Store Part II

I’m sure I have room for one more (insert animal). It all started with a gecko.

“I want to get the best food for my new puppy.” Okay here’s what I recommend. “Oh that’s way too expensive. I’ll just get the puppy chow for now.”

Counting crickets 😩

“This fish killed my other fish. I want my money back.” What kinda of fish do you have? “Guppies, mollies, and a betta.” And you bought an oscar? Oh boy. So many things we need to talk about.

“Can I put this red ear slider in my 10g tank?” No.

Actual customer complaint: “There were too many dogs for adoption. All the barking gave me a headache.”

“I want a ferret but they stink.”

“I’m looking for my dogs food.” Okay not a problem. What brand is it? “I don’t know the bag is green.” 🤦🏼‍♀️

“I’ve been feeding my dog cat food. She really likes it.” I would stop that immediately. It can cause kidney failure. “She seems to be doing great though.” For now. Until she dies.

“I want to get another Savannah monitor for my other one to have a friend.” How big is your other one? “About 2 feet.” It will eat this one as a snack. “I know what I’m doing.” So do I. You’re not putting this baby in with an adult.

“My son wants a hamster. Can we get one that doesn’t bite?” Well they all can bite. Some are more docile but if they’re scared they’ll still bite. “What about this little Robo?” Especially the little Robo.

“I would like to get this fish. My tank is (insert appropriate size) and has been cycling for (insert appropriate time) and I think I’m ready to introduce fish. Can you test my water too?” Oh thank god. Somebody that has some sense.

Did I mention crickets?

“I found this turtle and I rescued him. Can you find a home him?” Where did you find him? “The pond by my house.” PUT HIM BACK!

The Struggles of Working at a Pet Store

“Do you have any allergy eaters?” Sure. I have some fish/snails that help with ALGAE.

“I want a fish that doesn’t need a lot of maintenance.” 🤦🏼‍♀️

Holding a bowl.. “I’m upgrading my betta bowl.” 😩 Let me tell you a thing.

“My other betta lived (insert time span) in one of these. It’s fine.” Your betta must have been miserable and made of steel.

“The picture on the box shows this gold fish in this 2.5 gallon.” It’s a lie. I’m not selling it to you.

“Can I get some fish?” Sure what can I get you?” “(Insert 47292752 kinds of fish of varying temperaments and sizes)” Oh! How many tanks do you have? What size? How long have they been cycling? “I just have a 10 gallon that I set up before I came. 🙃” Lets have a chat. I can’t get you any fish today but we can discuss how to get started and I can give you some reading material. “Oh no. I’ve done this before.” Look. I’m not giving you fish. Period.

“How much is it for everything I need for a guinea pig?” Give a rough enstimate. “Oh no. What about just for today?” Give the same number because everything I told you is what you need. Period.

“Can I hold this snake? I want to face my fears.” Are you getting one? “Oh hell no.” Nope.

“Can I hold a ferret? My mom’s cousin’s boss’s uncle’s grandson had one when I was growing up.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ 5 minutes.

“Do you have this dog food?” Sorry no but we have- “This is ridiculous. I’m complaining to corporate.”

“Is this (tiny) cage big enough for 3 parakeets?” Oh no. You need this one. “That’s too much we’ll just get the birds.” Nah I’m not stupid. If you want the birds you need to leave with this in your cart too.

I love telling people no! Idfc if it’s a 19 cent gold fish or a 800 dollar parrot. I can and will tell somebody no.

Pea Puffers and Bumblebee Gobies

I went to my lfs looking for more galaxy rasboras but they just got a shipment of pea puffers and 2 abandoned bumblebees. The gobies are fully grown and super healthy. They’re slightly larger than the puffers. All freshwater strains. How well do you think they will do together. I have other tank options but my best set up currently is a 10g. Advice?

Get to Know Your Deck Spread

Here’s a lovely spread for all of you out there who are new to tarot, recently received a new deck, struggle with bonding with your deck(s) and/or are having issues getting clear or understanding readings. Sometimes decks have personalities to them, they have their own likes, dislikes, alignments and even preferred ‘work’ to go into. They also often require bonding to get the most accurate smooth readings. I have explained before the differences in my decks and what they like to answer, and I know of others who struggle bonding or understanding who their decks are. This spread should be of help!

1. How is your deck feeling today? Are they in a good mood ready to work? Or are they just having an off bad day? I have found decks, like people, can have moody bad days. These days their readings may be harsher than usual or even not even slightly logical. Its good to see what mood your deck is in before using it for readings, especially readings for others (and especially if they are paying for them). This may also affect the questions they will wish to answer.

2. What element does your deck align with? All decks are different and some may align themselves with specific elements. Is your deck fire, water, earth, air, spirit or a combination of them? This may affect the manner which they read. Air decks may be more interested in giving creative advice and focus on individuality, free-spirited natures, the arts, and even love. Water decks tend to focus on emotions and seeking gentle fixes. Fire decks tend to be the most assertive, they are competitive, encouraging, brave, passionate but also tend to support the idea of feuds. Fire decks, also from my experience, tend to be very blunt about things. Earth aligned decks tend to be a bit calmer, they focus on bonds with people such as family and friendships. They also focus on careers, prosperity and money matters. Spirit decks, tend to like to do more of the ‘divine’. They focus on self-enlightenment, self discovery and communicating with supernatural forces, guides, and deities.

3. What Questions does your deck enjoy answering? Does your deck enjoy answering questions about love? Friends and family? Do they enjoy giving personal advice? Do they like money matters and career focuses. This could determine what questions they may be the most accurate and ones they will give the best advice on.

4. What Questions does your deck least like to answer? These are the questions they may not have the most accurate advice on. Such as my Rider deck greatly dislikes romance questions so I never use him for them because he will always just advice break-ups no matter the situation.

5. What is your deck’s current feelings towards you? Does your deck feel close to you? Is it a strong professional business bond? Or is it more like a friendship? Do they feel distant from you? Like you ignore them? Do they not understand you or feel like you are a stranger? Do you intimidate them?

6. How can you improve your relationship? How does your deck feel like you two can do to help build your relationship? Practice more or perhaps make spreads.

7. A Negative trait. Pretty self explanatory, this is a negative quality about your deck that it feels you have a right to know about. Take note that this is a negative trait in the mind and views of your deck, its something it feels is negative.

8. A Positive trait. Again, pretty self explanatory, this is a trait that your deck feels is a positive trait it has. Again, this is a trait seen as positive in its mind.
