The cardboard box is such a classic joke in the MGS series, but I've always maintained that it would 100% work on me.

If I saw an unfamiliar cardboard box just sitting by a wall or door frame, I would just assume someone was in the middle of moving something and basically pay it no mind.

If I was patrolling a passage and turned around to see a cardboard box conspicuously sitting in the dead centre of an empty hall, where it had not been a few seconds ago, I would also choose not to investigate that, not because of its lack of suspicion, but it being SO suspicious that I can't imagine a scenario where I interact with the box and it goes well for me, and I would simply Leave the Building.

I finally cracked my copy of the final volume today, and this panel is so funny to me.

Because of some of the revised dialog in volume 30 we have the context for this "the moon is beautiful tonight" bullshit, but because the magazine version lacked that context, it initially just read as "we are so fucked and you need to come back to work", made even funnier by Tsukishima reacting to it like he just got a marriage proposal.

BUT THEN, the official English version boiled it down so it's not clear that this was supposed to echo an earlier conversation, so it's back to reading as "please help clean up this shit" again.
