Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.

all debates abt the artistic merits of fanfiction fail to recognize the purpose of fic. you don’t write fic to be published or to learn how to construct a narrative although you can use it to develop style. you write it so that your friends will message you “bestie you’re utterly deranged for this one im eating dirt”

I would love to hear you yap more about Bleach Filler! What's your favorite arc?

I...Had to think about this for a good bit.

I feel like I have better memory for 1 episode filler like the Film festival, Kemari, New Years, the straight up Sailor Moon parody and that one where a spiritually aware girl tries to blackmail Orihime into being her friend. (10 outta 10 concept right there.)

Feel like I can't include Regai arc because I've only watched it once. Though I do remember little pieces like Sasikibe running around trying to find his copy, only for the bad guy be like 'wait...I forgot to make him one...ah well.' Momo horde getting some sweet, sweet stabby vengeance on Toshiro and Kon somewhat getting to be an ACTUAL character instead of "comic relief" that I've throughly outgrown.

Zanpaktou Rebellion is out as I'm in a strange spot as a Bleach enjoyer as I...just don't really care about the Shinigami or Soul Society. I think Renji, Rukia and Rangiku are the only ones where if Kubo wrote them out or killed them off I'd be 'THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!!' There are some where I like the bit of their character or I liked this cool moment they had but I'm not really all that attached to them.

I have decided that nobody told Orihime that arc was even happening. So she just thought she was helping a cosplayer that partied too hard, only for him to release a shrivelled angory man and a horde of menos on her town.

Which leaves the Bount arc and The New Captain arc and I am NOT giving it to Bount arc.

Now to its credit I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. Nearly every criticism of it can just as easily be applied to every filler arc here. The thing that bugs me the most about it is Pierrot deciding to mash it in with the canon stuff because they were super proud of it I guess?! Also aside from Noba (teleport portal dimension guy) the other mod souls were only ever effective when they were bullying Ichigo and co. at the start of the arc.

So think it's gotta be the New Captain arc. Mainly because, the more I think on it the more I realise it's the funniest filler arc.

Hi, we are the bad guys of this arc. We use swords that eat us if they are displeased with our performance. Also we blow ourselves up if things don't go to plan, don't worry we don't try to take someone out with us. We just off ourselves harmlessy to side.

This is a continuation of this post, but you can't add video to reblogs, so I had to make a new post. ANYWAY, that post goes some places, but at the end, we were talking about Soundscapes of the Seireitei and @bleachbleachbleach added these tags:

and here's the thing: I know exactly what the Inuzuri equivalent to Fierro Viejo is because it shows up in Fade to Black. There's this scene where Ichigo and Renji have gone to Inuzuri looking for clues to where Rukia might be. Despite all of Ichigo's best efforts, he can't get Renji to remember Rukia, and then this happens:

Rukia has been erased from the fabric of Soul Society, but the water seller hawking patter turns Renji glassy-eyed and sends him directly to Rukia-flashback-town.

As for how this could possibly become a meme within the Seireitei: I blame the film festival.

Writing (lol)/Art Update

Wow, it's been, like 3 months since I did one of these. I just looked back at the last one and it's literally just the same, at least writing-wise. Here is a summary of events: - 4800 words into the smut I was working on last time, gave up. Did not actually make it to the part where they have sex. - Wrote 700 words of some Sea Society thing??? - Wrote an Akon story and actually finished it - Even though I only had, like, half an idea for this, I decided I should try to write it down anyway, just to capture it. I haven't actually had any further ideas for it, but I just keep poking at it, 100 words at a time (possibly b/c I told myself that after this I have to get back to a little in love). It's close to 3k now. Is it working? I have no idea. Usually Renji-fic is so easy for me to write and also I love to write a fever dream, but this is being so difficult and I know exactly why. It's because the Rukia is a lie and I find this very distressing. Usually, though, I get to this point where I know a fic isn't working and that hasn't happened yet, so I'm just going to plug away on it until that happens, I guess. Don't get your hopes up.

I miss writing! I miss when writing was fun instead of...whatever this is. And I still love Bleach and all my blorbos and I want to write about them, but it's just some combo of running out of material and the world being too depressing to live in, but it's really hard to even string a sentence together these days and I just feel so crummy all the time for failing to be able to do it.

Traditionally, summer is super-bad for my productivity, because the kids are home from school. All of this year I've had terrible productivity during my usual good productivity times, though, so I am extremely stupidly hoping maybe I'll get an inverse summer??? Hope springs eternal. Anyway, like I said, when I run out of patience with the current thing, I really am going to make myself go back to a little in love. I've had a plan of attack in mind for months (skip to act v and write all the big important scenes and then just find a way to get there from here), and I just need to do it.

As far as drawing goes, I have been drawing a moderate amount. I go back and forth between fanart stuff and stuff for my Normie Art Club. It's frustrating because whichever one I'm doing, I feel like I am neglecting the other one. Lately, I've been focusing on the Normie stuff because I liked this month's theme, but I really want to get back to a couple of screenshot redraws that I was literally in the middle of an abandoned.

I guess I managed to do a couple of finished pieces since the last time I did one of these: - Shin'ou Winter Coats Redux - Renruki High School Warfare style - Six Hearts quirky portraits (this came out of an art club activity, so they do occasionally cross-over)

I like my own art pretty well, but lately it feels very much like my audience is mostly just me. And I know that's how everyone says you're supposed to do stuff, but it also just feels like I could do nothing instead and it would be the same. idk. 100 words at a time. draw every day. Just gotta keep going b/c if you stop, you die, I guess.

Which Gotei lieutenants are hench-coded?

Sasakibe - No. Perhaps back in the criminal empire times they had some boss-hench vibes but these days it's intricate rituals/king and lionheart/guy-who-does-my-paperwork-for-me old man yaoi shit.

Omaeda - yes.

Kira - categorically no.

Kotetsu - Unohana wishes

Hinamori - under Aizen, no. Under Shinji? It's a work in progress. They could pull it off.

Abarai - Byakuya will not admit this but yes.

Iba - This man is the Platonic ideal of a henchman.

Ise - lol. On the other hand, in some sort of captain/lt swap AU, he would hench for her severely.

Hisagi - he is a journalist, c'mon. Kuna - if she wanted to, she could re-tool slightly and super duper pull off henchwoman-tokusatsu subgenre, but she is the star of her own show and that's not changing.

Matsumoto. You know what? I'll allow it.

Kusajishi - no. Madarame - absolutely. In fact, he and Yumichika form the classic Henchcouple. This is not even debatable.

Nemu - Sure. Mad-scientist subgenre. Akon - kinda? Spends too much time doing Gotei stuff so Kurotsuchi has more time to spend on his dank personal projects which is useful but sort of the opposite of henching, imo. He would probably be a solid yes if Nemu weren't there for comparison but she is way hench-ier.

Rukia - we really never got to see much of her lieutenanting, and Rukia is usually not the sidekick of her relationships, but for Ukitake I think she would hench. I think she would hench for him with her entire heart and they both deserve this.
