The boulder Manu chose was heavy, though not as heavy as the body had been. Rather than push it down the National Library’s front stairs, she carried it on her shoulders, grief and exhaustion both burning in her chest. Love, the cow, was grazing  by the fallen statue. The sun was setting.

Thanks for the tag, @winterandwords! I'm thinking of doing some editing of Bite Me, so here is part of the new chapter 1! Warning for dead body and blood.

She felt her knees give out.

Summer laid across the floor. She almost looked like a centerpiece for the hideous display, her throat leaking red. She held a knife and her head was haloed by blood. Her empty eyes were accusing.

Melody had the faint sensation of arms wrapping around her, trying to get her to turn away, but she refused.
