When it cut to Kafka on the ground doing pushups, I immediately assumed that he was still on the floor due to falling out of bed at the age of 32

Dazai makes fake pages to add to the book and convinces Kunikida that Atsushi’s harmless behaviors are actually signs of a tiger in distress
The ADA keeps an encyclopedia about tigers in the office in case Atsushi starts acting weird as a result of his ability

I thought of this too, actually. I think it’s the chicken… very early DHMIS vibes (shout out to the Love episode)
I love how real images are used in TSHD. It’s jarring, it’s unsettling, it’s visceral… it says that something is out of place. It is here. You can experience it. You can reach out and touch it. It can reach out to you. It’s moved on so quickly that you process it only as it’s leaving.
But that’s the question, isn’t it? Can you register an irregularity before it’s already latched on?

Yoshiki is very relatable. I too would ask a close resemblance of my dead friend not to leave me alone again while experiencing nauseating cognitive dissonance about my attachment

I expected the twist for K-Pop Demon Hunters to be that one of the boy band members was Rumi’s father. At the same time I knew logically that wasn’t the case, otherwise I would have been hearing a lot more about fandom controversy. But! I’m glad it didn’t happen

My favorite part of “This House Has People In It” is “The Sculptor’s Clayground.” Yes, please, let’s get a whole series of dry comedy guy broadcasting vaguely threatening aura while toeing the line between mess and masterpiece

Got to season 4 of Haikyuu. Basically… I will choose to imagine that they all died after the match with Shiratorizawa. It’s very unfortunate, but not as unfortunate as their side profiles with the new animation style

“He touched her hand, and smiled again. ‘You were so lucky,’ he told her. ‘You had a mother.’” -The Haunting of Hill House, Chapter 6, Luke to Eleanor
Eleanor is haunted by her mother. In the same way houses are haunted by their architects, doctors are haunted by their curiosity, and objects are haunted by her use, Eleanor is haunted by her mother. It is clear in the way that she has been stunted by the necessity to care of her mother and how the first taste of life she experiences is after her mother has died. Ghosts are oftentimes frozen in time— snapshots of memories and emotion— and Eleanor thus becomes a walking, living ghost in her own life. The fact that Luke calls her lucky for having a mother (the very thing that haunts her) reveals how disconnected he is from the concept of haunting itself, both relationally and in the sense of the motif. On top of not having a supernatural connection like Eleanor and Theo, he is also a physical and social reminder that the legacy of Hill House lives (and will continue to live) on. Furthermore, his comment serves to further isolate Eleanor, which is part of what makes her own haunting.
Eleanor is haunted by her mother. Eleanor is haunted by herself. She is both ghost and ghost hunter, and Hill House is merely the tool through which it is channeled.

Attack on Titan says “What if, despite everything, your father (figure) tried? And, worse, what if his trying hurt you more than if he hadn’t? What if everything you are hinges on the scars he left with all he tried to be?”
