Some tips to protect more your creations on tumblr

Go to your blog settings and scroll down. Activate these options in your account.

✓ Hide [your blog name] from people without an account

✦ Your blog and posts will not be recommended to others, will be excluded from Tumblr search results, and the in-blog search function will be disabled for everyone, including you.

✦ People without an account won't be able to see your creations.

✦ The gifs will also be in WebP format, which makes it harder to save and republish.

✓ Discourage external searching of [your blog name]

✦ External search engines like Google or Yahoo will be discouraged from indexing your blog and showing it in search results. It is ultimately up to them to honor your request.

✦ This second option ensures that your gifs are not shared (smaller) on image search engines when someone searches for gifs from a particular fandom.

★ You can add this code to your theme if you use one.

✦ This will prevent from using the right-click option to save your blog content.

★ Put a watermark on your gifs as it helps to know who they belong to.

✦ Even if maybe, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be stolen, but it adds a deterrent all the same. Pinterest is one of the worst site, because so many gifs are republished here. And it's hard to track down the source afterwards.

Feel free to communicate when you see a blog reposting gifs, it will be shared on this account, add #repostersource or come directly submit a message. With the source of the real creator would be a bonus.

I also think some of the gifs might belong to asgardswinter and ok-loser, not sure which, but the sharpening and colouring techniques look similar to theirs on some of the gifs.​

All I ask for is kindness and respect that I DO NOT ALLOW MY GIFS TO BE REPOSTED ANYWHERE

I'm not sure if it's because LnDS is a fairly new fandom, and people aren't very aware of the reposting problems that exist across fandoms in general. You wouldn't dare go around reposting fics in the tag, so why should other forms of content be treated any differently???

There's also an issue with art reposting in this tag, blogs that repost art are getting thousands of likes and reblogs. Is reblogging stolen art the community we want????? By the way, disclaiming "credit to the artist or whoever it belongs to" means nothing, especially when you go and look at the artists who made the art, 90% of them say DO NOT REPOST.

I just went to the top posts and looked at the very obvious reposted art and traced it back to the artists, and what a "surprise" I found in their bios and posts.

Tr: no reposting, no edits etc...

Some of the curses on these...I beg you run a translator through it before you steal...

I'm posting this to ask my Gif Maker mutuals & followers to peer review this. Please reblog so any gifmakers can hop on and share their thoughts.

is it okay for a user to take your gifs and use them if they're watermarked? is the watermark enough credit for you when someone decides to save and reupload your gifs?

is it too much trouble to use the search feature? is it so strenuous to use that, it makes it okay for someone to use it and then save your gif for future use?

are you honored if someone saved your gif and used them for whatever they want?

we don't own anything, so all the graphics, aesthetics, writing, art gifs, etc etc should be openly available for anyone to use?

should I get off my high horse and stop fighting for Gif Makers who get their gifs stolen, and get upset over something else?? 🤡

I know it's not about gifs, but it seems important to say that this tumblr: og-loki-art \ posts plenty of fan arts from real creators of the same fandom. Not good.

if you attach gifs to your fics, gifmakers still deserve credit for those gifs and you're stealing and reposting otherwise. infuriating because the search function is so easy to use and posts the credit instantly! easier process than saving and reposting and generally being a big 'ol headache.

that said, if you've made austin butler gifs, mainly from the bikeriders and elvis, you may want to check @pxnsneverland and in particular their fic tag. there are a few different fandoms with similar reposting, like stranger things. i've tagged some folks whose work i recognize, but there are a ton i don't. hoping to get the word out so folks can block if they'd like to, since of course this person ignored me.

editing with additional blogs this person has so people can block if they'd like to, since they also have gifs reposted on these: xxyouaremysunshinex, waystobewixed, kingoftheneverwoods, and kingoftheneverwoods-archive.

Hello, I just wanted to pop in and let you know someone has reposted your HOTD gif to twitter and it currently has 86k views/9.1k likes. People really think gifs just materialize out of thin air when in reality people put in a lot of effort to make them. Is it really that hard to give credit? I would recommend blocking @pcynchedelic. They stole 2 of my gifsets (entirely, every single gif reposted into their own post) and deleted my comments asking for them to stop, and now blocked me :)
