I was honestly just having the most fun with creating my own composition and seeing which acapella vocal tracks I could squeeze in there. Not the best “industry-standard sounding” as a stand-alone track, but really enjoyed synthesising my own sounds and creating the cheesiest mash up!

This was done for a ‘Music for Games’ module at university, the idea was to create 5 different loops/2 bar compositions with a threading theme, the first being ‘Idle’ music where the video game character is travelling between quests or missions, then 3 composition loops for the “Combat” music, each getting more intense leading up to the “Victory” composition.

This is my emulation of Ariana Grande’s ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored’.

I decided to recreate this song to challenge myself with sound recreation and emulation using different synths, emulators, LFOs and plug-ins within Logic Pro X.

ABOUT

Originally from Lancaster, I made the move to Manchester three years ago to undertake a BSc degree in Studio and Live Music Production, for which I have achieved a Second degree. 

I was a late bloomer as a musician as I didn’t start learning to play my first instrument (drums) until I was thirteen years old, from there I rapidly developed a love for pop-punk and was inspired by bands such as Blink-182, Paramore, A Day To Remember to further my musicality and learn more instruments (ukulele, bass, guitar, vocals). From this love for music, generated a further thirst for learning about how these bands created and delivered their sound to their fans, my love for music production had arrived. 

Over the past years my interests in the music industry have evolved, to begin with, I solely wanted to become a performer whilst working a side job to provide a living, which then once I started performing at gigs and events morphed into wanting to become a live sound engineer. I applied to the School of Sound Recording (now Spirit Studios) to help me achieve that dream but along the way I changed my mind again, wanting to become a studio engineer within the voice over recording industry, this is something that still greatly appeals to me and isn’t off of the cards.

But for now I am focussing on building a portfolio of works that demonstrates my compositional and songwriting abilities both electronically and with real instruments. I’m relatively new to this side of the industry but I hope to grow and learn with each new track that I post.
