Before getting into this special and one-of-a-kind GP I have an announcement! It is an exciting new format for eBay that will only grow bigger over time. Now on to this vintage Girard-Perregaux Aero-Compax ref 22441 caliber 285 35mm with a copper colored color change patina dial. It has an engraving to Edward H. Parmer and his number with the Army Air Force (the predecessor to USAF) with an August 4th 1944 date which puts it squarely into World War II. So while it wasn't an officially assigned watch it is one that certainly served. The dial is in great condition; it has just had a total color change due to the radium on the hands and numerals. The case is in equally excellent condition, unpolished and with all bevels intact. It is truly one of the most eye-catching and unique Aero-Compax watches to be found anywhere. The Reverso Classique is kind of like a Porsche 911: an instantly recognizable silhouette that can trace its design origins clearly from the beginning to the present. Take all the best elements of the Mark series and add in a matte blue ceramic case and dial and you've got yourself one incredibly attractive watch. One of the most interesting Laureus pieces, it's a showcase of IWC's superiority with ceramic. A colorful watch that isn't really very playful, it is sober/serious/teutonic in all the best ways (classic IWC) and despite its non-traditional hues could easily be a daily wearer. Wearing this for a few days it was a struggle to take it off the wrist and post it for sale; I could live very happily with this as a mainstay. The Big Pilot 43 is such a classic Richemont product. Company-wide and amongst the myriad brands, generally they do best when they keep it simple. One might point to a base Panerai, and most of the IWC pilots series. The Big Pilot has been a classic design for going on 20 years but was always gargantuan; which was a nod to the original WWII pilots watch that it was based on. But that meant that a sizeable portion of the watch wearing population just didn't have the wrist acreage to wear it. There had been a general clamor for a smaller Big Pilot for years. With last year's release of the Big Pilot 43 IWC answered those calls, albeit very smartly. The Big Piltot 43 is distinct from the Big Pilot 46: it has no date and no power reserve indicator and a brand new Pellaton movement with ceramic parts clearly visible through the caseback. That plus an optional steel bracelet makes for a really terrific watch; one that might be expected to have as long of a lifespan as the original Big Pilot. Appreciating vintage Longines is really the end of the collectors road in watches. While there are many branching offshoots on the road from neophyte to watch genius, vintage Longines is really at the end of the spectrum on the vintage side of things. Outside of a very select number of vintage Patek, fine quality 13ZN are fundamentally best-of-best in vintage manual winding chronographs (Daytona's while definitely way more valuable are most definitely not 'better' at least not mechanically....13ZN > Valjoux 72). While there are definitely plenty of really good and relatively underpriced high grade manual wind chrono's, 13ZN's deserve their lofty status. This particular example is a really solid entry into steel oversized 13ZN: military dial is totally original, it has a great looking 37.5mm stepped case and is a generally rare reference. The Bremont 1918 is a low production limited GMT AM/PM chronograph chronometer with an inimitable look. The layout is very reminiscent of a Venus 200 which gives it major vintage vibes. There are a number of different references to RAF planes throughout: the AM is a Supermarine Spitfire and the PM is a Avro Lancaster. The rotor on the caliber BE-16AE (a heavily modified and decorated 7750) has metal from recovered war flown planes: a Bristol Blenheim, Hawker Hurricane and a Supermarine Spitfire with a wood inlay at the center of the rotor from a WWI biplane a S.E.5a. The 43mm case is Bremont's signature Trip-Tick three part construction and is a real thicc boi at 17mm. A rare watch that isn't frequently seen on the secondary market. Was it overpriced when new ($11,495 retail)? Yeah it was. But is it cool? This is a rare 'poor mans' Carrera 73453 from Le Jour. Usually seen as a Dugena, some other brands besides Heuer used the 73453 case. These watches had the Heuer name removed from the back and got repurposed but the case is exactly the same as the Heuer. This Le Jour has an incredible black and tritium colorway that is somewhat reminiscent of a Speedy. Super clean and mounted on an absolutely beautiful @welsbrowatch fried artichoke strap. The watch industry is so full of these 'same as' watches because that is how non-manufacture (assembleur) watches got made. Even with our brand Welsbro we have many vintage pieces that used identical Breitling cases; this is just what the manufacturing process was for decades. A maker would order a case and a dial and a movement and hands and assemble them. Just look at the number of brands that used Monnin 42mm cases besides Heuer, or the wide variety of variations on the Aviator Sea Diver not as a Croton or Nivada. Things like that are part of what makes collecting fun. In LA? Or going to be? TLDR: Moved to Downtown LA, social media is not my favorite, will try and post more, this UG is special. It has been 5+ months since I have posted anything as Time Titans on Instagram which is the longest break I've ever taken from it. And what a 5 months it's been. In that time I: moved from Portland to LA, setup a Downtown LA office, sold our Portland house and bought an LA house, launched a watch with @welsbrowatch . So even if I've been quiet on IG I've been very busy in real life. I think I let it drop for a few reasons: that intrinsically and at a core level I don't like social media (which perhaps just makes me a normal person), that my business in no way revolves around IG (eBay is the place I do almost all my business) and also that IG no longer prioritizes plain old images like the ones I've been posting for years. Regardless of all that I'll try and make a better effort to get back into a routine with it and post more frequently. With all that said I thought this wonderful Tri-Compax was a really good 'welcome back' watch. I remember back in the 90's in my dad's shop the general aura around a tri-compax; they were always valued by collectors. Even to people who don't know what they are looking at could appreciate the clearly special dial layout. What I love especially is the two tone movement, the nicest version of a 481, with a gilt baseplate and a stainless steel chronograph assembly. The condition is impeccable and is a true survivor and the HPC (High Precision Chronometer) dial marking adds some extra rarity. Having had most of the various Black Bay watches the BB58 Black Bay Boutique 79012M 39mm bronze on bracelet is the best of them all. The Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200 227.60.55.21.03.001 caliber 8912 master chronometer is definitely one of the more adventurous dive watches made in the last 10-20 years. The whole reissue of the Ploprof series has generally been both excellent and over-the-top with the sedna gold and titanium blue ceramic dial variant being the most wild. It answered a question nobody asked but the answer is so very good. It was my personal watch for pretty much all of covid and I wore it almost every day (while repeatedly changing both it and my underwear daily). I've been wearing a Speedy cream dial moon phase and this hasn't been worn in over a month and so now it's up for sale (on timetitans.com and eBay). It was only in production for about 4 years and while never limited was a very limited actual production; it was recently discontinued. The Karl Plepla Flytimer is like a much more rare Jardur Bezelmeter; they have a very similar case with different dials. Early Valjoux 72 oversized waterproof case pilots chronograph with rotating 12 hour bezel, mounted on an exceptional vintage style padded Napa @welsbrowatch Brown Sugar strap which is a perfect match.
