Dunsparce, Tangrowth, and Bidoof!
Two Bidoofs! Bidooves? Bideef?
@devilrose and I are testing out some different Android apps for drawing, since, to be fair, the last time we checked on what was available was like ten years ago at this point. Eep! And, later, we are thinking to do a write up on our findings of each app we try.
The first we've tested is Autodesk Sketchbook. We had heard about it before, all good things, but it used to only be available for Apple devices. But now we can draw with it on Android too! As part of testing it out, I made three drawings: one with Dunsparce, one with Tangrowth, and one with two Bidoof.
I currently don't feel comfortable posting my newest art directly on Tumblr, but you can see it on my personal site and on Cohost.

We are happy to share with you the beginning of a new series of articles that we are writing collaboratively on Copy Cat: a scene-by-scene analysis of Mewtwo Strikes Back, including Mewtwo’s Origin.
For this first installment, we have the Introduction followed by a discussion of the opening scene, The Discovery in the Jungle. You will be surprised by how much we can talk about just the first two minutes of the movie. Enjoy!

I've drawn a Wooper! :D
Hey there! Given Tumblr's recent garbage decisions, including directly selling user posts to unscrupulous AI companies, with a belated opt-out toggle that is completely dependent on the good faith actions of those known bad actors........... I currently don't feel comfortable posting my newest artworks here.
But, instead, I can give you a textual update that I've drawn something new! And you can go see it on my personal art site! You can also potentially follow me on Cohost!
Anyway, I've most recently drawn a little Wooper! :D

Back with our series of Detective Conan anime reviews, we wrote about the second movie, The Fourteenth Target. It is one of our favorites, even though it was kinda mauled by the Funimation dub. In our review, we go both through the original Japanese script, and propose localization fixes for the travesty that the dub ended up being.

Aw man! Can you share any glimpse of what Clutch at Stars used to be? On my old Team Rocket fansite (Team Rocket's Jail Break), I intentionally sought to feature fansites devoted to each character in particular. And you are right, back in the day, it was hard to find sites specifically about Jessie! So I wonder, on my quest, did I ever find yours? The site's name isn't ringing any bells, but I also would have said I am not sure I visited a site called Salon Rocket until I clicked on the archive link you shared, and OMG that was a mega-flashback moment, haha! I definitely recognize the banner and header art!!!
Also, in your tags, you mentioned backups, and YES, definitely backup your website stuff! You made it and, chances are, at the very least, you might want to look at it again later!
Back in the day, I chose to delete TRJB for personal reasons, and I didn't keep any sort of backup (since I wrote everything using Geocities web-based editor, it all was just me typing HTML right into the online textbox!). I later very much regretted deleting TRJB. I can see some remnants of it through the Wayback Machine (a lot of which I've since downloaded and saved for myself), but there's also lots of TRJB that is completely lost. And while looking back at things I wrote as a kid is of course going to have some level of embarrassment, it's also nice to be able to see a glimpse of who I was back then.
We also never know if the company hosting your stuff is just going to decide to shut down to save five cents (like Geocities did), or simply stop working and disappear from one day to the next (like what the previous host I used for Copy Cat did - luckily I had everything backed up on my harddrive and didn't lose anything, but it could have been terrible). And how many Tweets are there that you'd maybe want to see again that are gone now since someone decided to start unplugging servers and throwing things out (there were some old important tweets I wanted to cite in some stuff I'm writing, and luckily I took some screenshots, because the original tweets have since disappeared).
Nowadays, I keep all my website files on my harddrive, backed up to Dropbox, and whenever I want to change something, I change my file first and then upload it to the server. So even if something terrible happens to the server, I should still have at least my own copies to fall back to. These files are web projects that I've been cumulatively creating for multiple decades now! No way can I just leave those precariously in some company's hands!
So yeah, I guess my reply has turned into: REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR FILES, EVERYBODY!!! This has been a PSA, lol.

Here are all the articles we made on Staircase Spirit during 2023! Our fanning over Detective Conan is still going strong (and we must have had at least some role in getting Detective Conan to newly reach the Tumblr Top 50 for Anime and Manga in 2023, hehe). We have a lot more notes on hundreds of more episodes to turn into nicely-formatted articles for you, so you can expect even more and more! (next up will be the second movie!)
During 2023, we also wrote reviews for Planet Zoo and also Sonic and All Stars Racing: Transformed, two games we've been playing for awhile and we wanted to share the love for. Somehow, it's always harder to write reviews for games we love because we need to pinpoint what we love about them beyond just going "omg! this game! it's great! this game! woooo!" But we want to push ourselves to put that extra effort to share the happiness of games that have made us happy.
And finally, we documented how we enabled dashboard style keyboard navigation into Rosy's Egret Tumblr Theme and our personal Tumblr themes. We didn't find any guides about how to do it, so we had to figure out the solution ourselves. But we really prefer being able to J and K our way along Tumblr, and we want other people to be able to enable the feature in their themes as well, so we hope our guide can help you and spare you the trouble of needing to figure it out alone!
I was surprised that we didn't actually make any new Pokemon-related articles in 2023? Sometimes I try to hold back from writing too much about Pokemon all the time, but I clearly have been holding back too much, and Rosy has finally convinced me that I shouldn't bother trying to alternate topics and that I should just go go go with what's in my heart.
We have some new Pokemon-related stuff in the works, so those will surely be coalescing sooner rather than later. I don't want to make any promises on the timeline or final form of any of these things, but let me talk a bit about what has been brewing.
During 2023, I did some major updates to our article Green vs. Leaf, and we think it's gotten to a point that we want to split the article off into its own fansite about Kris, Blue/Green and/or Leaf (and May and Lyra and Elaine can come too). We've always thought of Staircase Spirit as like a fansite incubator, and this one is probably fully-incubated, lol. I think it will be a more pleasant reading experience for this mega-article to be divided into fansite sections that have an order, but don't necessarily need to be read quite so linearly. And it will give me more freedom to branch off into more tangents about these characters, without derailing a singular train of thought.
Also, we also previously started writing an in-depth analysis of Mewtwo Strikes Back for Copy Cat (and to cross-link from Staircase Spirit) that I think I want to break down into chunks and gradually publish, rather than trying to make it a big massive thing. I was already thinking of the end of the Mewtwo's Origin prologue as a checkpoint for doing that, but maybe that's just useless holding back again, and instead I should let go and go go go. Heh...

And I will add a hat if I ever find one that doesn't just look completely silly on my head. :P

@ritabuuk and I as respectively Leaf and Kris from Pokemon... the forgotten protagonists who recently made it back from the shadow realm (and they're girlfriends). Our approach with these costumes was an interpretation of what we think their artwork are a stylization of, also texturally and whatnot. So we ended up for example with a cropped denim jacket for Kris, in the style of the early 2000s, and interpreting Leaf's shirt as a green shirt worn over a black tank top.
Thanks to my sister for the photoshoot by the reeds (tall grass!). The ones on the balcony, we took them in a bit of a rush as it was sunset on the winter solstice and the sun was falling out of the sky, maybe another time we will take photos in different light conditions. And will I maybe make a wig for Kris? We'll see.
