Something that comes up often in art that's about artists is that you'll be told that this character made an amazing, record-shattering, highly acclaimed book or movie or song or whatever and then you'll see the piece of art they made and it's painfully mid. Like, you have to accept that within the world of the story being told, that's the most amazing piece of art ever but you're sitting there like, "There's no way that would ever catch on like that IRL."

Anyway, shout out to KPop Demon Hunters for sidestepping that problem entirely by having the in universe songs chart so high IRL that they beat out actual established KPop groups, proving definitively that those songs WOULD have set the charts on fire and beat out their competition even as the new kids on the block.

Gonna go full white girl here for a moment

If I ask if a food is spicy at all, and you reply “No, not at all! You can barely feel it!” then that is a contradiction. It is spicy. It may not be very spicy, or even moderately spicy, but it’s still spicy. Please just tell me that straight-out.

I know there’s a good chance you’re mocking me in your head when I say that I cannot handle spices at all, and that even the mildest of sauces, that you insist are barely there, are going to hurt, because I’m mocking me too. I know I’ve got a child’s palate when it comes to spicy food. I know it’s almost laughable, how badly I react to even table pepper in more than the most minuscule of doses.

But if I ask “is this spicy,” and you answer “not at all,” and then proceed to tell me that it’s mild, then I will still consider it too spicy.

If I ask “is this spicy at all” and you say “no” while knowing that it is, just a tiny bit, because you can’t imagine anyone reacting, then please don’t be offended when I take one bite and then throw it out, because I asked for a reason.

It’s a dumb thing to talk about, but… yeah. Just do your cannot-handle-spices friends a favor and be honest when they ask. Mild is still a level of spice.

(This goes doubly for strangers, because if they have a digestive problem like, IDK, ulcers or something, then spicy food can irritate the stomach lining further and cause extreme pain. Some people claim that capsaicin can be used to treat ulcers, but you know… just play it safe, yeah?)

Hey friend!! I didn’t think i had this word in my wips so i held back on it but turns out it popped up in my newest round of writing lol as an apology for the wait ill give u a whole section of that no cape high school childhood friend au i sneak peak-ed before. Its a flashback!

“Hey,” the kid says, voice high and distinctly posh, “Smoking is bad for you.”

Jason refrains from blowing smoke right in that condescending face. “No shit.”

Undeterred, the kid takes to rummaging his pockets, a whole production of flailing and near stumbles while he pats himself down, mouth running all the while.

“Like yeah, obviously.” he says, a bit above a murmur and only getting louder. “But you’re never really aware just how bad it can get for you- the yellow teeth and painful rasp in one thing, but then you get into the pruney lungs and the cancer, which you can argue isn’t <i>that</i> different from the effects of Gotham smog, but can you imagine all of that stacked onto each other? At least the factory fumes here could nominally give you superpowers!”

A lollipop practically gets shoved against his chest.

“Your face looks like the type that would serve you well in the future- you wouldn’t want to give in to premature aging before your prefrontal cortex even finishes developing. These are my mom’s diet candies, she has them imported from VIetnam, hopefully it can help curb your oral fixation without changing your course on track for diabetes.”

The twerp finishes with a wide grin. Jason throws out his meanest sneer.

“Charmed.” he says, shoving the candy back so hard the other almost bowls over. “You lecture everyone in your periphery or am I just special?”

A mouth opens, Jason shuts him down. “Nevermind, I don’t actually care. Piece of advice for you too, Shrimp: learn to keep your mouth shut when no one asks, you’ll save yourself the trouble.”

“Oh.” he says. But the sheepish smile still plastered on that chubby face is distinctly unintimidated. “My parents said that too. I thought it was just for adults though! Sorry ‘bout that. I’ll just-”

He mimes zipping his mouth shut, and starts slinking away from Jason in small, silent steps. Every move more deliberate and careful, like he’s trying to be considerate of the company. It’s a noticeably quieter exit than when he came. Honestly, it makes Jason feel like an A-Grade asshole. Like the type of snotty tough guy who shoves nerds in lockers because they’re embarrassing to look at.

It’s a shitty feeling. One that crawls along his skin like a forecast of him turning into one big cliche. His mom would be disappointed, Bruce and Alfred too. Moreover, he’s just not that type of guy. Hates them even. But maybe not as much as he’d hate being that guy to someone else.

He meets Tim’s wide-eyed stare and wants to scream. The other is still trembling in his grip, lips wobbly and letting out small hiccups. He’s beautiful. Jason wants to tear him to pieces.

“Talk to me.” He says instead. It sounds weak even to himself. Forced restraint, neutered of all the bite pooling at the back of his throat and just as futile. The resolution not to force Tim into anything, to follow his lead and his wants are frayed by the evidence of just how shit Tim gets when left to his own devices. How shit both of them get. Jason wishes he could pry Tim open the way he does metal shipping containers, so he could gut Tim’s reticence and bare his omissions.

He wishes he could make Tim see without acting like a fucking brute.

ur jaytim kpop au has been haunting me for weeks. i cycle through my playlists and recently ive been on a 2nd gen kpop kick and the idea of tim being a main dancer and being really good at girl group dances got beamed into my brain as miss a's bad girl good girl came on

i love jaytim and the way i built the story kinda revolved on making them endgame but honestly!!!! I loved trying to kpopify tim and working out how his insane obsessive tendencies translated to working in the industry. If there was ever a want for a spinoff fic of just him and his group having idol shenanigans kirarin revolution style id make it!!! If nothing else so i can read it myself lol

a quiet place to sleep by CaptainDebil, Night Blogger by AnonDude are two I have enjoyed recently-ish. Night Blogger is pretty much crack and a really funny time (But I won't lie, a little frustrating at some points), and a quiet place to sleep was a little confusing at times but also it stuck with me. Both of these are JayTim.
