My hyperfixations vary day to day but currently they are . . .Sonic the Hedgehog (just watched Sonic Prime don't know anything else)Miraculous ladybug (that show has left scars)Naruto (This is a problem)My hero Academia (don't worry I won't be posting much about this)Frozen (occasionally)Disney's Wish: My Au (Surprisingly I've gotten some attention for my Disney WISH rewrites so gonna make that a thing)ROTG (And just gonna at Rise of the Guardians since it is accompanied with Jelsa)INDIAN CINEMA- of recently gonna post this occasionally recommend me movies to watch and I'll rate themOutside of this fandom circle I am also gonna post of my many ocs which just consists of Sunshine x Grumpy characters One being a Strict teacher x fun teacher trope (which I have never seen anyone use for some reason) and a "jock" and a "Nerd" which isn't totally inaccurate but still kinda misleading if you see the pair. Then there's a Queen who's trying to get back her throne and a clueless admirer who wants to help her anyway he can (If you have heard of this trope trust me you have not) then I have a magical beast and human mix and last but not least a Duchess (authority figure) and a knight (former assasin) who disrespects authority.Stay for the rants, fanart, fanfics you name it I got it

Okay okay I feel like this is the finished piece but who knows I might change some things later.

what if Kara crash landed on earth years earlier?
I’ve been getting back into art after a slow burn art block and started drawing DC. Characters
I don’t know all the DC lore but I did think to myself what it would be like if Kara arrived on earth and woke up years before Clark became superman
She wouldn’t be there when Clark just crash landed on earth but a couple of years later when she lands or wakes up she’d start looking for him and find a 10 year old Kansas boy spouting stuff about him being an alien.
Clark is obviously confused and kind of scared but Kara would end up explaining to his parents that she’s from the same planet Clark was born on and sent to protect him.
Kara would end up living with the Kent’s and teach Clark about Krypton at a young age and he’d help her adjust to earth.
She would be around 17 by the time she meets Clark so she’d be seven years older than him.
I just thought it would be really cool to see super man and super girl to have this older sibling younger sibling bond.
Here’s my work in progress for the two with Kara holding Clark like a rag doll while the poor boy’s trying to stay up right.

Starfire fanart
Thank you @femmehaljordan for the inspiration!
I decided to go as close as I could with the 80s starfire design because of the outfit style and I really like drawing curly hair especially since I have it too.
I hope this doesn’t disappoint!

I was going through the anti Jason Todd tag because I hate myself and want to understand where people who dislike him are coming from and one thing I kept seeing was annoyance at Jason fans who claim that Jason is female coded and realized that the term “female coded” might not be the best term to describe what we mean.
A female coded character in literature and media typically means a character that has no specified gender or otherwise does not have a gender but is obviously meant to be a stand in for a woman or female. Kind of like how Starfire has no specified race (due to being an alien) but is still obviously black coded based on the way she’s drawn and treated by the narrative.
This is slightly different than what we mean when saying that Jason is female coded. It’s not that Jason is literally supposed to be a stand in for a female character, it’s that the way a lot of characters treat him and a lot of the tropes used on him are things that usually saved for female characters, not big buff men like Jason.
To start with, being Robin is narratively (or at least was) very similar to being a woman in a story. Robin is a role made to complement Batman (who we all know is basically the ultimate male power fantasy). Robin’s role is to be an accessory to Batman. Robin can be smart, but not smarter than Batman. Robin can be strong, but not stronger than Batman. Hell, Robin is often kidnapped and used as a literal damsel in distress, a role often regulated for women as a whole.
What sets Jason apart from the other robins (except for Steph) in this regard is that they were allowed to be characters outside of Batman. Dick might not have been the “man” of the story when he’s with Bruce, but when he’s with the teen titans suddenly he’s the smart one who has all the answers. Jason’s Robin was never really allowed this.
Then we get to the most, controversial, part of Jason’s female coding. The fact the he was effectively fridged. Fridging is usually only referred to as frigding if it’s a female character, but Jason’s death checks pretty much all the other boxes needed. An incredibly brutal death that was more about Bruce’s feelings on it than Jason himself.
This is especially apparent when compared to the other Bat characters. For all the female coding, the only other Robin to actually be fridged was Steph (and we all know about the misogyny surrounding her death). Barbara was also kind of fridged during the killing Joke. The only female character to escape this is Cass (to my knowledge). When you look at it through this lens, the fact that the only other characters to be permanently damaged like this for Bruce’s story are female, it’s not hard to see where the idea that Jason is female coded comes from.
You can even find this in Jason’s origin story. Poor little orphan is saved by benevolent billionaire is a role usually saved for little girls, like in Annie.
Despite what you might think, this even continues after Jason’s revival. Jason is still used less as a character and more as a motivation for Bruce. He’s regularly called emotional and hysterical (terms usually used to refer to women).
Jason is first and foremost a victim. A role performed by women in most media. Men are expected to be stoic and “rise above” the things done to them as to not be victims, as continuously shown by the way characters like Nightwing are not allowed to be effected by the horrific things they go through. The fact that Jason is shown the be angry, and sad, and emotional, constantly, and the fact that he’s punished and vilified for it puts him in a place much more similar to a female character.
There’s a reason that so many Jason fans (that like him for a reason past “antihero with guns”) are female. For most characters, when you swap their genders there would be a pretty clear and big difference in the way their story takes place. If you swap Jason’s gender, the story takes place identically.
A lot of this is best shown in men’s reactions to Arkham Knight’s version of Jason. In that game, Jason is similarly angry and emotional, albeit for slightly different reasons. He is also still unmistakably a victim. You’d think the men playing would like him. After all he’s a big cool angsty guy with a lot of guns and muscles. Instead, a lot of men’s thought that he was whiny. That his feelings were annoying.
There’s also something to be said about how his autonomy is regularly undermined by Bruce (specifically in Gotham war) and how his decisions and feeling are constantly treated as if they’re worth less than Bruce’s, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Go outside!
I’ve been really struggling with rendering for some reason. I think it’s because I want to be really good since my style is evolving but I’m just not getting it so most of the artworks I start end up unfinished because I lose motivation when I need to start rendering.
Anyways I finished another artwork of starfire (I have two more) and attempted at a background.
So uh . . Bye.

Happy Pride Month!
In honor of pride month (and school ending) I’m hoping to draw by OCs Lalitha and Leah who are gay and originally from India. Leah whose actual name is Leelavathi was born in India and raised their but moved to America with her family when she was 19-20. Not because her father was able to find a good job there but because she did.
Leah is the breadwinner of her family and almost half a decade is the owner of a very successful company in America who is looking to expand her business to other countries including her home country, India.
Lalitha’s story is a bit different. Lalitha was born, raised and never left India. She’s from the village side of India and is the daughter of one of the more wealthier villagers similar to a mayor in a town. While both Lalitha and Leah were both raised in the countryside Lalitha never left and never wanted to leave. She wants to focus on bettering her own community she got a good education from a college a few towns over in Agriculture, Science and some financial related ones as well. Since the college still is in the countryside it wasn’t as advanced as ones in the city but Lalitha still learned very much and didn’t let that deter her.
Because of Lalitha’s mindset of going above and beyond she broke general stereotypes and like her father is a seen as a very intelligent individual in the the village if a tad abrasive. This was thanks to the support of her family and her father as well even if her father was doubtful due to generational norms he never prevented Lalitha from achieving what she wanted.
There are many similarities between Lalitha and Leah. They were both raised in rural villages in India, they are very successful individuals in their own right, headstrong, innovative, etc. However there similarities also bring about differences Leah is usually calm and collected as is the way in business, Lalitha knows what she wants and thinks about how to go about it but she can be a bit aggressive or insistent these cause different problems for both of them.
Lalitha by some people especially those who are influenced by old norms and stereotypes think because of her behavior that she is a brash and silly girl who can’t control her temper and just has a smart mouth because of her education no matter how much she’s helped the village.
People see Leah as this ever calm entity making her repress the free jovial and timid girl that had first arrived to America. Her changing her name from Leelavathi to Leah is one instance of that, while it is easier for Americans or foreign people to pronounce Leah it is also a way to repress her culture without seeing it as that. It makes it difficult for her to fully open up because of the image she has retained for herself. She doesn’t hate her culture or India by any means and still connects to it in small ways by wearing gold earrings crafted from her home country her mother’s varnished to look more expensive and exotic. Her makeup while primarily popular brands in style to keep up her image as a business woman also imitates her mother’s use of Kohl when Leah was younger. Leah’s makeup emphasizes her eyes. She takes any opportunity to show this part of her though because her platform is based on diversity a core part of her and her company she celebrates traditional holidays publicly and privately eats home cooked food once in a while and wears Indian made clothes in the comfort of her home to remind her of the place she left behind and the part of her that she keeps locked away. Leah isn’t totally dark and brooding though with her friends she is a mix of her true self and business image and that’s why she values them so much. Her company, employees and friends are more of her family because she created it for herself. Leah, well she didn’t have her family’s overwhelming support she paved her way essentially by herself with her mother’s support but not outright due to their father and traditional norms of wives always supporting husbands and not talking back etc.
While you would think the similarities would overshadow these differences and Lalitha and Leah would find amicability in each other’s presence you’re forgetting another factor. They both are headstrong and stubborn Leah when she needs to be and Lalitha always.
Lalitha also has this image of wealthy people as self conceited and looking down on people Leah’s tone when they first met didn’t help.
Leah’s father and and Lalitha’s father are old friends and while Leah is coming to India to check out potential business opportunities and just visit since it has been almost a decade since she went there Lalitha’s father asks his friend for some help. Lalitha’s father is also a businessman and small businessman since they live in the village but a businessman nonetheless and seeing how Leah’s company had grown so much he wanted to ask her advice and ask her to stay with their family when she visited as a common courtesy.
Leah agreed since she wanted to see a familiar setting as well instead of a expensive hotels like back in America because it would feel like there was no difference.
Leah doesn’t go alone however her assistant comes with her so it would seem more business related since that’s supposed to be her primary goal.
on the way to village in the rental car Leah got she is stopped by a herd of sheep and almost hits them but stops just in time when she hears yelling.
Lalitha who was grazing the sheep and had lost track of them or (idk I’ll give some reason eventually) was aggravated when she saw the near miss hit.
The first think Lalitha thinks when she sees Leah is ‘Rich and Modern’ while modernity isn’t a bad thing to Lalitha the way Leah presents herself and her clothing feeds into the self entitled image Lalitha feels rich people have. Leah is wearing a low cut turquoise blouse with a navy blue coat on top which she hung over her shoulders while driving due to the heat. Her hair isn’t frizzy due to the sun or messy like Lalitha’s and she has that look in her eyes that makes it seem like she has something better to do than talk with this ‘villager’. Leah doesn’t feel that way it’s just her resting face.
Lalitha asks if Leah has any sense driving so quickly and that she could’ve hit the sheep. Leah while feeling a bit bad because of the near hit is also a bit annoyed because again she hasn’t been in this type of weather in a while and the roads here are very tricky.
Leah answers saying something along the lines of roads are meant for cars not animals and that it was Lalitha’s job to keep them off there right.
And so there first interaction earns Leah the name ‘rich girl’ from Lalitha which she says under her breath like a curse as she takes the sheep away and goes beyond the plains.
Leah not Lalitha knew that they’d be meeting each other later that day because to Lalitha’s misfortune Leah was the one who her father said would be staying with them for a month or two.
That’s all I’ll say about them for now as some people known I’m Indian I speak Telugu and my name isn’t actually ‘Roselle’ thats just my online persona.
I was very much inspired by Telugu movies for this story and I love enemies to lovers even though I haven’t written much of it before. Also additional info like I said before Lalitha and Leah are both gay. Leah is openly gay because of her environment in America and her discovery process had a lot of internal and external turmoil due to cultural values and such Lalitha however is discovering her sexuality throughout the story. Even if Lalitha’s family is supporting they are raised in a rural village setting and traditional values and norms will still haunt them. While there’s the positive side like food, clothing, and festivals there’s also her cousins and aunts and uncles making ‘funny’ comments about how she could be so smart as such an abrasive ‘girl’ never ‘woman’ a small word but more meaningful in the long run.
These jokes speak about how this community is while they agree that Lalitha has done so many innovative things because of the seemingly ‘absurdity’ of a girl like her being able to do such things they always used jokes not meant to hurt her not even realizing they’re there but speaking about their thoughts. Even Lalitha’s father while recognizing his daughter shows no interest in romance currently believes soon after her next big discovery and innovation that she’ll want to take a break do something more relaxing like marriage. She won’t become completely quiet his daughter could never do that but marriage would simmer her down a little and that might be good for her.
the family teasingly pairs Lalitha with her timid childhood friend Rohan even if Lalitha expressed her annoyance because it’s just jokes her father doesn’t say it like a joke he just tells her that maybe she’ll change her mind and nothing is decided because she’s the one who chooses as the Head ‘Lady’ of the house but he’s silently thinking like the rest of the family that eventually she will choose Rohan that she’s just being shy and ‘annoyed’ about it due to her personality.
Rohan doesn’t like Lalitha don’t worry he actually likes this other girl and is scared to confess. Lalitha knows this and is part of the reason that she doesn’t want to end up with Rohan also yknow because she’s closeted. Another reason Rohan is scared to confess is because his father and the girl he likes father have a small feud and Rohan’s dad might not approve of his affections.
Lalitha helps him later through the story though. Lalitha doesn’t fully explore her sexuality till she meets Leah. She secretly doesn’t have anything against ‘those people’ but she think that even the thought of herself being a lesbian is ridiculous that’s why she scratches it off as Leah being annoying when Leah’s teasing inches onto flirting or when Lalitha’s heart beats a bit faster when she sees Leah fighting a few goons and simply enjoying the atmosphere.
The closet wasn’t glass it was a padded brick wall on either side not liking romance with guys but not exactly open to the idea of self exploration either.
Even though Leah’s gay she doesn’t make it known when she’s living with Lalitha’s family because she knows that certain things are still considered taboo and doesn’t want unintentional strife however if they do speak badly about subjects she is supportive of she will make factual retorts.
Anyway I’m hoping to get that artwork later throughout the month since I’m also taking a college level class over the summer and it’s really hard so far. Here are references for my characters:

Superfam and Found Family: What it Means to Choose
I have seen a lot of my beloved mutuals talk about adoption as a theme in the superfam, and thats true, thats very much a thing, but thats more a subsection of the larger idea with the superfamily: You get to choose your family, and define your relationship to them.
Clark and Kon come to mind. They've been discussed a lot lately, huh? Namely people saying Clark does not treat Kon well. This is false, by the way, they get along great.
Tumblr media
But let's sort of dig into the actual story told by their relationship here: Kon was created by Lex without Clark's consent. Clark had no say in how part of his DNA would be used to create a new life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is coincidentally why it irks me that certain fans will act like Clark is a monster for even HYPOTHETICALLY not wanting a relationship with Kon. Guys, you sound like pro-lifers. Lets watch it!)
Despite this, Clark accepts Kon with open arms. Now, as myself and others have pointed out, Kon's technically... he's not a clone, he's a test tube baby. Technically, biologically, he's Clark & Lex's son. D.. diversity win...?
But thats not how Clark and Kon choose to define their relationship. They instead decide, hey, we were raised by the same people, we're brothers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kon is not an outsider to the Superfam, even as he is an outsider to this world- He is welcomed with open arms once it is clear he needs a home. And with Clark and Kon, they get to choose how they define their relationship, not Lex, not anyone else.
Then, John Henry and Nat. John Henry is not Natasha's father, but their relationship is very complex and often veers into that territory, for the simple reason that he shows up for her in that capacity when Natasha's own father fails her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even while their relationship has its ups and downs (read 52 guys for THEM), they manage to forge a relationship based on mutual respect, enough to the point where during Steelworks, she is not just his niece, but his partner in building a better tomorrow. It is a fatherly/daughterly relationship built on mutual respect largely independent of their blood relation, built on the security that Clay failed to provide Natasha with.
Tumblr media
Of course, to talk about adoption, Clois adopting the twins. I think Phillip Kennedy Johnson handles the topic of adoption EXPERTLY with Otho-Ra and Osul-Ra, specifically as a metaphor for transracial/transethnic adoption.
Clark's relationship with the twins is built throughout the Warworld saga, and does not start... great (they discuss looting his corpse lol), and often they. But Clark understands that the kids are traumatized, and seeks to guide them to a better situation.
Tumblr media
Now I would be irresponsible to not mention that, during this time, Clark is still struggling with Jon's age up. He mumbles, disoriented during their first meeting, that the kids are the same age as his son (no they are not). In a less tightly written book by a worse writer, it'd be a thing where Clark completely uncritically finds 'replacement kids' in the twins... Which is NOT what happens here, because PKJ is the GOAT.
Tumblr media
In the end, his relationship with the twins is built not only independently of his struggles with Jon, but the way he connects with them helps Clark realize that whats done is done. They need him to be Clark, not a man hanging onto the past he will never get back. To move forward, they must do it together, it won't work if the twins remain on Warworld and he remains mentally in Hamilton. Its why it is SUPER important, also, that in the end, Clark doesn't ask them to come with him- rather, they ask to go with Clark.
Tumblr media
(Sidenote: The twins lost not only their parents on warworld, but an older brother, too. Clark isn't the only one who finds a healing way forward via the Ra-El relationships, but that's gonna be another post!) And their hero names, Red Son and Starchild, are from their original culture (the Phaelosians), a culture that was systematically robbed from them when Warworld trafficked them into service. Rather than forcing them to conform to the house of El and their legacy, they help the kids reconnect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are his children. They found each other in the scariest place in the universe, and together, they find a way past the things they've both suffered through.
I'm afraid I don't know much about Kara (kara mutuals, reading recs appreciated! i've only ever read WOT and a few issues of the most recent Supergirl run) but I do know that her relationship to Clark is inherently different than it was supposed to be, and she has to roll with it and redefine it accordingly. She was supposed to be older than him, be able to take care of him, but by the time she actually finds him, he's the one doing that for her.
Tumblr media
(I dont really have a panel here I fear, so look at the pretty art from Woman of Tomorrow. If someone wants to say more on Kara, you're welcome to hijack my post for a bit!)
Kenan is an example of this theme going kind of sideways and being examined from another angle- He's forced to choose between his two found families, and with either choice, he stands to lose something. Either his connection to Superman, or his connection to home:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kenan already has a messy relationship with family, considering the soap opera level drama his parents inflict on him in his solo. Now, separated from his culture by circumstances he can't control, Kenan's relationship with the Superfam is forced by circumstance, even as it isn't unwanted. He's forced to make the most of what he has.
Then you have Clark and Jon, where the 'and define your relationship to them' part of my thematic statement REALLY becomes important.
I've seen it argued many times that giving Jon the Superman mantle weakens the theme of found family, but I'd argue it strengthens it, because Jon not having a choice in becoming Superman is EXPLICITLY framed as a bad thing.
Tumblr media
Jon's not ready to be Superman. He doesn't even really WANT to be superman. But because of the circumstances of his birth, the world, and his father, push him into it. Clark never asked Jon to be Superman, during the Son-of-kal-el + Warworld era. He assumed he would be.
Tumblr media
It tarnishes Clark & Jon's relationship, actively preventing Jon from connecting with his father and the WORLD fully in the way they both want. This is a key theme of Superman: Son of Kal El, from the very moment of Jon's actual birth:
Tumblr media
All throughout post-age up Jon is the idea that Jon is just as burdened by the expectations placed upon him by his blood as he is comforted by what the mantle represents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I know I use this panel like every analysis but its a GOOD PANEL, SHUT UP) And there's of course the fact that... y'know. Well. Y'know.
Tumblr media
Y'KNOW.
I think there's a potentially strong story in either Jon walking away from the mantle entirely, or redefining it to be his own. But first, he's going to have to suffer for the fact he wasn't ready for what many people call his DESTINY, including his abuser.
And where does this leave Jon and Clark?
Here.
Tumblr media
The last note before Absolute Power of these two is this bittersweet moment where Jon still isn't fully heard. Where he still doesn't get a full say in what he and Clark's relationship will be. And judging by THIS interview from Mark Waid, this particular idea is about to finally come home to roost:
Tumblr media
Lastly, there's of course the Most Found Family Thing Of All that i basically see NO one talk about: The fact that the Irons and the Kents just. Share all their big life events with each other. They're literally not related to each other by blood at all, but throughout PKJ's Action Comics, they ARE family!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teamwork makes the dreamwork guys!
The superfamily is a wonderfully diverse cluster of relationships and examinations of the way family finds each other. Even moreso than the Batfam, which is often defined by their father-son relationship with Bruce in fanon, the Superfam displays a wide array of the various ways non-nuclear families can build each other.
This is all to say you guys should read PKJ's action comics run. It rules.
(This is also to say Superman 2016 sucks ass.)
