I've been planning on making this pretty salt cellar combo, but didn't like the pairing of different woods to the beautiful shell, I finally carved some cherry that went well with the pretty pink and peach tones 🐚 These pretty gals' will be in the shop this week!

I’ve gone through four little spoons until I carved the right one to match this shell in color and delicacy. Swipe to see the pair in use as a pretty salt cellar, a plan I’ve had for months now. I am thoroughly stoked on this little guy! At 6", I made this as a prototype of an idea for a minimal spatula. I then let it sit on the counter for days in case some use for it struck me. And along came a pan with a layer of eggs fried and stuck on the whole thing (my most loathed dish disaster). So I grabbed this little guy and he made quick work of it. I have since used it about 5 times a day, making it the item I use most of anything I’ve made. I just scraped fried-ass cheese from my cookie sheet in seconds. I’m wicked excited about this guy and am promptly making more. And on top of all that it’s safe on nonstick and cast iron, and looks pretty next to the sink 😍. I plan on having a pile of them available for the shop update at a reasonable price 👍. I’m so dang excited about this.. Mab Graves always on point!

The Ten of Swords. When I started thinking about which Tarot card I wanted to chose, I began to research which tarot cards spoke of loss. As I scrolled through images the Ten of Swords stopped me immediately and I knew that this was my card. It’s a card of devastation. 2019 has been such an annihilating year for me and my family. Loss can create a kind of pain so enormous that it feels impossible to fit it inside your body. It’s immobilizing, physically painful sadness. Painting has always been a very nakedly emotional process for me, and for 6 months of this year I couldn’t even pick up a paintbrush. I was scared. I can’t hide from myself in paintings. Attempting to put that feeling onto a canvas felt important to me.
