Wally West not considering the titans his family is important actually! They are some of his best friends but they are NOT family to him and he will always put his family first.

This is going to be a long very rambly weirdly personal meta so...

The one thing every kid growing up in a shitty home knows is that no matter how much fun you have with your friends, no matter how much you love them (and maybe they love you too!), play time always ends and night always falls... eventually everyone goes home to their family.

Of course, you can become an adult make your friends your family etc etc but it's never the easiest route. The permanence- legal, social, and, for most people, psychological- of family is largely undisputed (especially in non queer contexts, but i digress).

Letting Wally find that... god, it's a miracle. It's a dream come true.

Because he made it! He achieved that beautiful home for himself that every kid in a shitty house always wants. Stories of found and chosen families made of your friends are no less amazing, but they are still radical and subversive. Sometimes, you don't want subversive.

Sometimes, it's good for a character (and for kid likes me reading him) to see someone achieve exactly that cookie-cutter perfect suburban family, which they had been deprived of and dreamt about for years.

He made it! And even my heart is bursting from pride and joy for him!

The Titans are Wally's friends, and he loves them. But god, he has a family now. A real family that he loves more than anything in the world and one that just as fiercely loves him back.

The funniest homophobia I ever experienced was a Mormon lady at my work telling me she would accept me being gay because we have to get along as coworkers but I really should consider not being gay because gay people have sex like animals (especially gay men) and she just couldn't stop thinking about it and how gross we are. She started really getting distressed, near tears, and saying 'I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop." over and over and miming some kind of sex acts with her hands and I was like ?????? What is happening???? One of the other Mormon ladies had to come over and pat her on the back and help her sit down to help her calm down and our boss gave her the afternoon off due to being too upset to work.

Loki and Thor Mini Rant

Alright, I KNOW how I get with my…obsessions…but I’m going to post about all I freaking want. So, for your viewing pleasure, a mini rant about Thor’s and Loki’s fanbase:

Loki has a bigger fanbase. There, I said it. Doesn’t matter that Thor is the main character. Let me tell you why, though. When you get down to it, Thor really IS the golden child. He’s brave, good, likable, honest, attractive, confident, strong, the life and sun everywhere he goes, the best–EVERYTHING you could want in a person or strive to be, right? Then there’s Loki–Detached, misunderstood, insecure, manipulative, outcast, the one always left feeling not good enough, of being unwanted, stuck in the SHADOWS of everyone else’s light. (He’s still attractive, though. ;D ) Something most people wouldn’t describe as the most..desirable of traits. That is precisely why Loki is more adored. Thor is everything we WANT to be, but Loki is everything we feel we ARE. Loki is the one we identify with because of the fact he’s the outcast, the mistreated, the neglected, the unheard. Something we all are at some point or another. None of us ever feel like the “golden child." 

I don’t know how to exactly wrap this up, but you get what I’m saying.
