It's Juneteenth yall. And I'm not letting this day go unmarked.
Black people fight for everybody. We stand in solidarity with women, lgbt people, poor people all over the world of every skin color and background. Every religion and nationality.
Today, stand with us. Be with us. Tell a black person you love them. Hug a black person (with consent). Ask that hot black girl out today. Make a black person smile. Black lives matter to everybody and you matter to us.
Stand with us on Juneteenth like we stand with you all year round, and I hope a happy Pride month continues for all of us

I was also 11 when I saw this movie and it terrorized me for months. I would lay in bed irrationally in fear of sharks, trying to reason with myself that no way a shark was going to come through my bedroom window. In hindsight, I wonder if the snl land shark skit may have confounded my little brain. 🦈 😂

"Jaws" turns 50 today. Fifty years ago, we were in St. Louis for a wedding and went to see a movie that would become an icon. So much of an icon that, in the shark section of the the Natural History Museum in Vienna, they had a Jaws poster in German---fifty years later!
That same year, 1975, I was a freshman in college and was taking the required speech class. For some reason, I had a subscription to Reader's Digest (remember it?). For my first speech, I basically copied an article from Reader's Digest that was about the making of Jaws which meant that it was mainly about this new director named Steven Spielberg and also about the mechanical sharks that Would Not Work. I think they set the production back about 100 days. Apparently several others in my class had the same subscription because we all gave the same speech word for word.

Moving to Peoria… best decision ever. I have many passions but only one related to my career. It’s been 41 years since I started as a young woman working as a “junior programmer” and I’ve thought of changing careers many times. I shifted focus 12 years ago so I could have a greater influence on teams building quality into software.
After a few failed attempts to achieve this goal, mostly due to lack of support from leaders and peers, I find myself being asked if I’d like to help my current project team build a framework for built-in quality. The request is coming from our project sponsor and supported by leadership, without knowing it’s a passion project for me.
To say I’m excited is an understatement. After all these years I never imagined I’d be so energized about my work. 💗💗💗💗
