in all seriousness it's very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it's irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience

The increase in awareness and media representation of dissociative disorders has been slowly climbing since the 2000s. It being talked about being less stigmatized than before is gonna lead to more people realizing, hey that’s me! Similar to the autism “surge” in the mid 90s to early 2000s, this was just due to there being more attention brought to it and the diagnostic model changing; as opposed to it being a new flourish in the autistic populace. The prevalence of DID is estimated to affect between 1-3% of the population. Which, spoiler: is a lot! and that’s just for DID, not the other forms of dissociative disorders. -???

Are there any other systems out there really struggling with either saying “I” or “we” and always switching between the two? Doing that makes me feel kind of ridiculous but pronouns language is confusing and our sense of self/selves is always very strange and warped. We often can’t tell where one alter ends and where another alter begins and we just kind of blend together or are co-conscious a lot

Please tell me we’re not alone with this
