ngl i love all the takes about Jensen and Misha would both want fully reciprocated and explicit Destiel because they're horny for each other and their chemistry really does just jump off the screen... but you know what? I think Jensen would have said yes to it simply because it's a damn good story. Because it means something.

That's why Misha wanted to do it too, by his own admission — because it would be so meaningful and powerful, and because he never thought they'd be allowed to take that step. He was so enthusiastically for the confession because it was the chance to take all the hints and nods and chemistry and queercoding and push it into something tangible, in spite of all the network opposition and homophobia. Something that people couldn't deny (even if they still try to).

But Jensen — Jensen is a storyteller. He's got a goddamn gift. He's passionate, and he's knowledgeable, and most of all, he's deeply interested in the process of filmmaking. He chooses his acting roles with care. He doesn't just act; he also is interested in directing. He's always itching to get involved with the stunts and choreography. He's thoughtful about the camerawork, about how things will translate onto the screen. He's talked so often about how he works hard to hit the balance between bringing a director's vision to life, and bringing something of his own to the table. He's not there to just go through the motions like a puppet.

Furthermore he LOVES working with actors that also want to get involved in the art of filmmaking instead of just reading out their lines. He LOVES when actors make thoughtful choices about their characters — how to stand, how to move, what kind of voice they will use, the way that they bear emotions. He's talked about this multiple times. He has specifically stated that this is one of the things that appeals to him so much about working with Misha — because Misha makes those choices, thinks about his character's motivations and demeanor and why he behaves in particular ways. It's what made Misha stand out, what made them click on screen. "Lightning in a bottle."

Jensen loves and values his work, and he's game for whatever will make good and interesting cinema. He would say yes to making Destiel explicitly reciprocated because that's good and interesting storytelling. Choosing free will and love in the face of so much oppression is a powerful AF story that resonates with people. A man like Dean, raised in a militaristic yessir family, living in the past four decades of an America that's grappling with homophobia.... allowing himself to be openly queer? That is a story of growth and personal acceptance and finding his own path, of not allowing other people's pressures and expectations define or control him or tell him who he's allowed to be. It's a story of forging family with those who genuinely care for you, who have your back, who would fight tooth and nail to let you live as you choose. And that is Dean's whole entire story. That's the thesis statement of his life, and Destiel works to support that thesis wholly.

And the Destiel we all wanted? Where they get to lay claim to their lives and their love? Where Dean gets to live and grow old and have the family he's always wanted? Where he gets to love openly and unfettered? Where Cas is at his side, and doesn't leave or get taken away again? That is probably the best epilogue that story could have. Dean didn't deserve to die young, on a rusty nail on a mediocre hunt. He didn't deserve to be separated from his loved ones. He didn't deserve a funeral attended by one person. He didn't deserve to have Cas taken away from him again. He didn't deserve to be shoved back into "just the brothers" when one of the most important things about Supernatural was "Family don't end in blood."

Jensen knows that. He's made no secret that he hates Dean's ending. He's also made no secret how much he loved Cas's confession scene. He raves about the work that Misha did for it, about what a wonderful culmination it was for his character. He knows damn well the power that admission of queer love holds within the context of their story.

He would have done Dean's explicit reciprocation if they'd asked, if they'd just let him. Happily, and enthusiastically. Because that would have been a powerful and gamechanging piece in Dean's story, and in the story as a whole.

So Misha is gonna be 51 on August 20th 2025 and people that are a certain other actors fans... wow coming at his looks!

Those are specific photos from very recent, including today recent...what about his looks as a basically 51 year old man...and yes, please compare him to a 43 year old even better!!! Also, remember Misha has been amazingly gorgeous, sexy, handsome all that since he was young to now, and to the age he is and going onto... the next and next!!

Him also, being now far more comfortable with himself, just makes all this even more..well everything! I'm proud of him and not just for making fine wine jealous.. cause fine wishes, it could age like Mish Collins!!

I CARRY YOUR HEART (I CARRY IT IN MY HEART) by unicornpoe: I lied, unicornpoe is very popular, but I literally reread this obsessively. Dean houses Cas as a vessel and they cohabit. The way that's narrated is incredible

Don't Swing That Way by stonelions: recced before but I'll do it again bc I can't believe this only has 17k hits. Fanfic insert in the human Cas arc in S9. Stonelions is not only an amazing artist but also an incredible writer. Unfair for the rest of us, quite frankly, go read it

The cute and fun ones:

some scenes in which dean and cas accidentally get together and no one’s dead by microcomets: exactly what the title says, finally some lighter destiel that's fun and games

Seek to know you better by ahurston: Cas makes Dean answer 36 relationship questions. Some Dean that's not completely emotionally constipated

The weird ones:

The Mirror by cloudyjenn: Dean travels through alternate realities to get back to his own. He meets a lot of female Dean and Cas. This one really makes you feel the emotional toll, plus awesome ending

Before The Thunder by someonetoanyone: oh my god, you guys. This series is NOT for the faint of heart and definitely 18+ but SO GOOD. I'm still reading. Omegaverse-adjacent with a version on mpreg. Read the tags for details, but I can say that each kink that's introduced is treated very well. The author really knows how to handle it, take care of the reader and have a smart conversation with the audience that feels adult and conscientious, for once. Extremely original and interesting in depicting Cas' forms. Spot on characterization to the point I had their voices clear as day in my head from the very first line. Cannot recommend this one enough
