This is a WIP for the story of R!Shift.

Sorry, this is a little long.

The story follows the same as Undertale's, the Monsters banished into the underground after losing the war to Humans. However, this world is different. A darkness lingers, creatures forming from it and ruining the locals of the planet.

At first, Humans and Monsters lived amongst one another. The relationship between the two races was never stable. It never helped when the creatures of darkness took the forms of monstrous beings. This sent fear into the souls of Humans, leading them to believe that Monsters were the cause behind it all.

A long, grueling war broke out. Both races fought with everything they had, but the Monsters were outnumbered. Fearing for their safety, their king yielded, sealing the fate of Monster Kind.

The monsters were banished into the underground, their now home, but came to realize they were not alone. A group of mages joined together to create a magical barrier over Mt. Ebott, keeping the Monsters and the true darkness inside the mountain.

The monsters use their dream magic to cast away the darkness, bringing light into the underground for a duration they call the "First Light," of which they all celebrate annually. With the help of the collected, fallen souls over the long years, the king of the monsters, Asgore, uses the energy of the souls to keep the darkness sealed away in the furthest depths of the underground.

One day, however, the darkness breaks free with the help of Frisk's determination- superior to that of the king's power- and the darkness nearly swallows the underground whole. The monsters manage to seal the darkness away once again, but have noticed the darkness has been gradually getting stronger.

Frisk doesn't realize the danger they've put the monsters in and deems it their goal to help rid the underground of the darkness, but when things don't go their way, Frisk resets three times before Sans finally begs them to stop their resets, pleading to them on his knees after having seen his brother die during one of the resets due to an unfortunate mishap on Frisk's end.

Frisk claims they're aiming for the "perfect ending" for everyone, but Sans can't bring himself to let Frisk reset again and the two have their first official fight. While Sans isn't the best fighter, he shows Frisk he's not messing around and means what he's told them before; He'll make Frisk's life a living hell.

During their fight, a fragment of darkness manages to get past Sans's defenses he's put up around the area due to his high usage of magic and his depletion of stamina. The darkness attaches itself to Frisk, thus creating Chara, who persuades Frisk to deal the finishing blow to Sans.

This starts the first genocide route and there's no one to stop Frisk. They kill everyone, even without Chara's help. When there's no one left, Frisk resets, but Chara still lingers within their soul, feeding off of Frisk's determination. They share the same soul now, but with more LV gained, Chara starts to take control again

Sans wakes up, distraught and in a panic. He rushes to see his brother who is still alive and well, but apparently doesn't remember meeting Frisk, nor having died. Sans goes to ask his friends if they can remember anything, but to his unfortunate surprise, Sans finds out he's the only monster around who can remember the previous timeline.

Sans returns to his home, begging his brother to stay home with him, but Papyrus insists he has to continue his work as part of the Royal Dream Guard. Sans, deviated by the thought his brother could be killed again, goes to find Frisk. He finds Frisk leaving the Ruins and stops them in their tracks. Frisk expects Sans to greet them per the usual way of every route, but is caught off guard when Sans confronts Frisk about the previous timelines.

Frisk insists on continuing, giving Sans the chance to go home and stay out of the way. This time, however, Sans plans to put an end to Frisk once and for all, but is overwhelmed by the new amount of power Chara has obtained from feeding off of Frisk's determination and the LV they've gained from killing everyone in the ruins. As Sans dusts away, Chara hides itself in Frisk's soul.

Frisk continues with the genocide route, killing everyone in sight, obtaining the "True Genocide" route. At the end of the route, Frisk begins to argue with Chara that they should stop and begins to beg them to leave their soul, but Chara taunts them, calling Frisk a hypocrite for begging them to stop just like Sans had once begged Frisk to stop the resets.

Frisk, in a fit of rage, manages to overthrow Chara, but they're never gone from Frisk's soul. Frisk resets again and goes to find Sans to offer a truce, but is surprised when no one can find him anywhere. Frisk continues the "True Pacifist" route, making sure everything goes accordingly to achieve their "perfect ending." They finally encounter Sans in the Judgment Hall, but Sans is less like himself than usual. He's more stressed out, shaking, and somewhat battered.

Without uttering a single word to Frisk, Sans attacks them. The two fight, but despite Frisk's many attempts to spare him, Sans manages to kill Frisk for the first time, believing they're truly dead. Frisk remains in the Loading Screen- a limbo-like world between life and death- for some time, debating on whether they should remain dead, or continue from their save. Frisk continues from their save file, finding Sans in a shocked, fearful state.

Sans begins muttering something along the lines of "he was right," and "this is hell," as he prepares to fight Frisk again. The two fight and Frisk is killed two more times before Sans starts to give up, losing his hope and some of his magic as well.

Sans, in the middle of battle, falls to his knees, asking "Why," and "how," as he anticipates Frisk's next move. To his surprise, however, Frisk spares him and explains everything to Sans. While sans will never trust the human again, they agree to make a truce. Frisk won't start another timeline and Sans won't get in their way of Frisk's plans for the "Perfect Ending.

Shift gets real embarrassed about mindlessly wandering into other AUs, but tends to wind up in Underswap most of the time. Sometimes, however, Shift will get too tired to walk, and doze off in the most random places. When Swap finds him, he often carries him to his place to get some proper sleep while he shifts back to his AU.

He gets super embarrassed about being carried around like a toddler.

Ah,,, here's the spider herself.

I based her design off of an old AU concept I once made years ago where instead of a cafe/maids type outfit, Muff has a more casual appearance.

RS!Muffet is a master weaver, and sells high-quality dream catchers for the low, low price of 999 G. How generous.

I love the ideas/designs of Muffet being more spider-like.

And a little bonus! Mostly just for the eyes.

The spider in her hair is named Silky.
