I de-stress by exploring the depths of Unsplash and Spotify; get inspired and bring the two together in my playlists. I want to share my collections with others and learn about new sounds and creators ^ㅅ^

International Women’s Day Playlist Drop
So I put all my female-inspired playlists in a folder and then realized that I can't actually share the folder. So I'll hyperlink each playlist with a (totally misleading) description instead. There's quite a bunch so strap in:
The Pantheon | powerful vocals and energy
Higher Octaves | higher pitches and softer melodies
La nuit | nighttime ballads or party overtures
Laisses les tomber | French-speaking artists I'm getting into
Blood Oranges | songs from Orange is the New Black that just hit the spot
Hot Flashes | mainly guitar trilling alt rock
The Wasteland | mostly a dump of London Grammar and Alessia Cara
The Audacity | no filter or holding back
Allure | the female voice that takes you places (and makes you question your sexuality at least once)
Sirens | the female voice that takes you to a specific place: the bottom of the deep blue sea
Some of these only have a couple of songs or so, because I'm still developing them, so if you have any suggestions for any of them, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, happy listening and happy International Women's Day!

Short but sweet. I’ve been obsessed with these tracks so much. I don’t know why and don’t ask. Just listen. Thank me later :3

Found this while browsing the Resplash app and even though it's quite popular already, it's a huge repository of a motif expressed through different moods.
I thought it was worth sharing in case anyone is looking for new wallpapers or a source of inspiration.

Homemade Lofi

Cover: Lianhao Qu on Unsplash Tracks: 97 songs, 3 hr 41 min
I think the title here is pretty clear. It's both a description of the cover and the content of the playlist. What's so different about this playlist than other lofi playlists on Spotify? Not much, it just started after a friend insisted that I listen to "Wishing Well" by Casiio, which I did and which I listened to on repeat for about a month.
I did the whole song radio and everything, so by the time I started this playlist I knew which tracks needed to be there by name. Which, for lofi, I can't say that it's been the case for me. I always listened to lofi passively, which I guess is the point to some extent. But I've listened to the songs on this playlist so much that they don't blend into each other as they did before.
For most people, lofi is for studying or something to have in the background, but through this playlist, I've come to appreciate it more as a new genre of music that makes you pay attention to the individual sounds of each track and how they work together to create something that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Isn't that kind of extraordinary in a way? I think so.
Don't get me wrong, if you're cool with the 'Lush Lofi' and 'Avatar Lofi Beats' playlists so am I! They're great and you might see some of the tracks from there on my homemade version. In fact, if there's a lofi track you are particularly obsessed with, drop its name in the comments and I'll give it a listen.
Until then, happy listening ^ㅅ^

Side note: this is one of my favorite photographs from Unsplash. I'm so happy I stumbled on it and Lianhao Qu's other stuff, the lighting and framing are so beautiful. He even has a fruit ninja-esque photo that always cracks me up despite how genuinely badass it looks.

Playlist title: Museums
Cover: @21.3018 on Unsplash
Tracks: 71 pieces, 7 hr 44 min
Here we have a classic (such fine wordplay, I know) collection of pieces, not songs, of classical music. Since I'm not a classic musician, I didn't have an agenda when I was adding songs in here, I just went with what I liked and with what @twosetviolin tends to recommend in their videos.
To be completely honest, I put this playlist together when I was watching over a friend's turtles and wanted to see if they would react to some music. This being the standard for the ~vibrations~ that we associate with higher quality and taste, I went with that. Plus, it's pretty good study music. My reading speed picks up so fast when I play Mozart's Symphony No.25 in G minor, the turtles seem to be into it too.
I don't want to come off as sacreligeous or anything, I actually would love to add more universal classical sounds. Maybe some more pieces by Manuel de Falla or featuring instruments like the guzheng and the gayageum.
The title is just pointing towards the cover I chose which is by my favorite Unsplash and IG account in the world (who's not active rn, but I'm still hopeful). It's the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which houses some unique exhibitions and generally gives me an impression of the modern meeting the classical somewhere in the middle.
You classical musicians and listeners out there, feel free to educate me on the pieces I have in there or suggest your own!
I'd love for this one to grow or at least be organized in a coherent structure one day 🤔
Anyway, happy listening, or studying, or pet entertaining ^ㅅ^

Playlist title: Ψychic Tracks
Cover: @chengfeng_record on Unsplash
Tracks: 86 songs, 5 hr 19 min
This is a harder one to give you names for. I guess you could define it as the first playlist to have people like AViVA and LP, but that just shows you how all over the place it is.
I recently had to change the cover from sunlight through a window (if you don't get the reference, watch 10 Things I Hate About You), to a classic cyberpunk style. It doesn't yell out cyberpunk, but these are the songs you'd go to if you wanted inspiration for your sci-fi worldbuilding or city landscapes. That's because this playlist started on YouTube where a lot of music videos for alternative rock songs like 'The Wolf' by SIAMÉS or any Gorrilaz MV had some really cool animations that I got into (a little bit more than the songs themselves, initially).
With time the songs grow on you too, some did right away just because they're powerful tracks with some electronic or strong bass buildups that I'm a sucker for. Hence the title, which is both psychic in the literal sense of magic systems, and metaphorical in that it does a quick scan for your soul and brings other instruments to hunt it down. It's a bit eerie, or outright demented, so tread lightly.
But who knows? If there's a playlist that's bound to have something that you haven't heard before, it's this one. And I do insist that you check out the YouTube MVs, the visuals are pretty unique and I'm all for the storylines, even the weird ones (coughLoneDiggercough).
What additions would you make to this playlist? Were you surprised to see any songs in there that you don't think fit the vibe?
Let me know and happy listening ^ㅅ^

Playlist title: Immortals
Cover: @itzstoryteller on Unsplash
Tracks: 218 songs, 13 hr 8 min
Don't mind me starting off with one of my classic playlists from those 2013 angsty years of pure bliss in having my ears blasted into another dimension while listening to artists like Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Green Day, The Neighborhood, and Arctic Monkeys.
That's who you'll find in here in the order of the albums that I bulk-dumped in there just by letting sonic memory (is that a thing?) take over. If my old iPod could talk, it would still be trying to memorize paragraph-long titles like "There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet" and humming to "Hum Hallelujah".
There are still some Waterparks and My Chemical Romance tracks peppered in there, and of course, things keep piling up as I remember new...old songs. I'd say this is your classic trip down memory lane for my old emo self.
Any songs I missed that you have to see there? What were your 13-year-old anthems?
Let me know and happy listening, or reminiscing, or both ^ㅅ^
Repost: I had to make the executive decision to drop the Spotify codes and instead have the original photographs from Unsplash because Spotify loves to pixelate covers to caricatures and I'm not about that.

A new era
It's a new era and we're changing things up into something more sustainable for once. Because of work and not having any ideas for what to do with this account, I just left it there. Even though I love to just browse through my feed and engage with all the beautiful stuff that's posted by art accounts on this platform, there was no way for me to contribute to any of that. All I've been doing to de-stress lately has been to just create an abnormal amount of Spotify playlists by combining new music I discover with some of my favorite photographs from Unsplash.
That did sound like something I could share. Everyone makes their own playlists and they're unique to them, which is something that I found really exciting. Because even though everyone has those "3 am thoughts" and "that one feeling" playlists, they all have different songs in them. So, in that respect, there's always a story behind a playlist for everyone. And there's always a playlist that you'll find has not a single song you skip over.
Maybe in my posts, you'll find at least one song that really changes your life in some way, or just reconnects you to old music tastes you had and that awakens something entirely new. I'm also doing this because I want to develop my own music knowledge, 'expand my horizons' as it goes. So if you encounter this post at some point in your own feed or whatever, do take a look at my playlist covers and see if there's anything that speaks to you.
Even if you don't find anything new or interesting, you could leave your own suggestions for music that you think fits the vibe I'm going for in each of the selections. I'm open to any and all feedback. I also plan to have some collaborative playlists for the Spotify users out there who feel up to the challenge of having their name show up next to their favorite tracks. I always support those who take credit for the things they love.
Let's see where this goes, shall we? I'm not expecting a whole lot of interest, because not everyone turns their moments of procrastination into passion projects (which is probably healthier, I wouldn't know), but still. Kind of excited to be here for the journey.
Catch you in the comments :)
Also, here are my relevant socials (also working on curating my Unsplash account so I can add that here soon):
