Just before I finished my short course at @inspireaub this week, I had a look at their latest exhibition, ‘Black Mirror: Magic in Art’ curated by Dominic Shepard, which “explores the influences and roles of magic, enchantment and the occult in contemporary art and how they function an aesthetic, conceptual and political forces.” This piece, titled ‘Judgement’ (2013) by Shepard himself, really struck me with it’s complex, intricate design, vivid colours and incredible detail. So here we are, @pantone have released 2018’s Colour of the Year; Ultra Violet. Bit of a change from the Greenery colour we had last year, but I definitely prefer this one! And from what Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of The Pantone Colour Institute says, it is also more than just a colour. “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. I love the home section at TK Maxx. I love the clothing too, but their home stuff is just really great. When shopping in store I just enjoy the randomness of it all and finding something amazing at a bargain price! And what I'm always forgetting is that fact that you can also shop online! So I had a good old look the other day and put together all my favourites (well majority of them) into a little mood board. That's right, ALL of this if from TK Maxx. A simple lick of paint can make such a difference to a room scheme. You may recognise this style of chair. It is from the iconic design collaboration of Pierre Jeanneret’s and his cousin Le Corbusier during the 1950’s. I’ve heard, if you hang eucalyptus from your shower head, when you run the shower the steam rises and fills your bathroom with a wondrous, refreshing scent. I would love to try this out!
