Relief and Joy
Hey hey it’s been over 2 years since I posted a fanfic. I still love these two and I hope you guys enjoy. This fic goes with this pic. _____________________________________________________________
Time passed by differently on the island, the reddish orb in the sky seemed to rise and set more quickly than on Remnant. Yang sat with her back to the trees, knees tucked up on the beach, watching the waves lap back and forth on the sand. She wasn’t sure how long it had been since she fell off the precipice. Blake’s anguished expression would haunt her for a long time.
On the island, Yang hadn’t seen any trace of another soul, she was completely alone. The endless silence made her question if this world was even real.
Was she dead? Was this purgatory?
Strange thoughts swirled in the back of Yang’s mind.
How do you prove that you exist…? Maybe we don’t exist…
Yang had walked along the sandy coastline up to the steep cliffs, but had not ventured into the thick jungle brush, its thick leaves and cover seemed foreboding to her for some inexplicable reason.
Yang sighed and cast aside her jacket. Maybe it was time to see what was on the other side of the island.
_____________________________________________________________
“I’m sure she’s fine.”
Blake prodded a log in the campfire and tried to manage a smile at the silver-eyed girl.
“Yeah I’m sure she is.”
Her and Ruby had landed together in the water, but Yang and Weiss were nowhere to be found. It felt like days since she had seen them. But if she was alive, Blake reasoned, then Yang was alive too…Right?
“We’ll find her Blake, don’t worry,” Ruby said.
Blake straightened, realizing her emotions were written all over her face. Worry… How could she not. Neo, Cinder what if they were here in this place, what if they got to Yang first?
“We will,” Blake said.
_____________________________________________________________
At first light, Blake covered a still-sleeping Ruby with her jacket and walked deeper into the trees. The whole island had a strange aura to it, an exotic sort of heaviness in the air. She pulled at a leaf and examined it, the size and shape was foreign to her, it was like being in another world.
Just then, a strong breeze rustled through the trees. Blake paused and caught a wisp of… Something… She couldn’t put her finger on it until it happened again. A familiar scent she’d recognize anywhere. Citrus and gunpowder.
“Yang…” she whispered
Blake reacted on pure instinct and took off at a full sprint towards the center of the jungle. She wasn’t sure how long she was running for, she just knew she was getting closer.
_____________________________________________________________
Walking through the rough-hewn path, Yang figured she had to be half-way through the jungle by now. It was slow going, numerous low hanging vines and branches got in her way with every few steps. She stopped to take a break, leaning her back against the nearest tree. What a strange place, she thought as she turned and ran her left hand over thin, neon pink rivulets of dried sap on the thick trunk. Just then she heard the distinct sound of a twig snapping under step several meters behind her. Yang froze then turned around slowly.
“Blake…?”
Blake stood with her chest heaving, faunus ears alert and straight out, not quite believing her eyes. There she was, Yang, her amethyst eyes wide and mouth parted in surprise. She had to confirm this wasn’t a dream that this wasn’t a mirage in the tropical heat. Blake sprinted towards the blonde without a second thought and leapt into her arms, connecting their lips together in a firm, desperate kiss.
Yang had barely enough time to react, wrapping her arms around Blake’s back and leaning back from the sheer force that Blake slammed into her with.
Blake breathed her in gratefully, pressed her mouth harder against hers, reveling in that familiar warmth and touch that was so quintessentially Yang. This was real. Yang was here and alive in front of her.
When they finally separated, both gasping to catch their breaths, the gravity of what Blake had just done was starting to hit her.
Yang and her had never talked about it, that attraction, that magnetism that always seemed to draw them together. It was like an open secret between them, something that they both knew but had never vocalized with words. Now with that kiss, Blake had brought it to the forefront and laid her emotions and desires bare for Yang to see. Did Yang even feel the same way?
“Sorry,” Blake said, breathlessly. “I shouldn’t have--”
Yang stopped her with another kiss, tenderly moving her lips against Blake’s mouth in a gentle caress.
“I love you,” Yang said resolutely, when they broke apart. “I should have said so earlier.”
“Yang…” Blake whispered, her eyes welling up with tears. “I love you more than anything. Please don’t ever leave me like that again.”
“I won’t,” Yang promised, holding her tight.
That same question swirled in Yang’s mind again.
How do you prove that you exist…?
Yang felt like she finally found the answer.
It doesn’t matter as long as you are with the person you love.

No matter how much time has passed, or how my infatuation with the fandom ebbs and flows, I’ll ALWAYS be grateful to Bumbleby for inspiring me as a writer and artist, and opening my eyes to the different ways people can love each other - Sachiel21

Remember that time I got a very specific writing prompt to write a bumbleby fic about goddesses of light and dark? I’ve been re-reading my old fanfics and I think they’re not half bad, if I do say so myself. This one was a fun one, sarcastic Blake is the best.
Blake and yang are both goddesses, Yang is the goddess of light well Blake is the goddess of Darkness. One day Yang in the middle of answering someone's prayers she meets Blake and grows fond of her, Blake on the other hand pretends that she doesn't like Yang's company. Yang continue to visit Blake until one day she doesn't visit at all Blake suddenly gets worried and goes to check on yang.
Prompt #2 - GodLevel Persistence
It was a beautiful afternoon in the heavenly palace of MountBeacon. Yang, the goddess of Light, lounged under a fig tree with her eyesclosed, going over the prayers she had received for the day. A prayer came infrom an Atlesian general for victory in battle against the Vacuans. The generalhad made many offerings on her temple’s altar so Yang was willing to answer hisprayer.
Onevictory coming up, Yang thought. She spread her arms with herpalms facing the sky and let the godly energy flow through her body to changethe tides of fortune. The scales were tipping in the Atlesian’s favour when shefelt another energy blocking her. The energy felt cool and dark, opposite in natureto hers.
Yang furrowed her brow and tried to channel more energy, but the harder she pushed, the harder the other energy pushed back. She let outa frustrated grunt. A power of that magnitude must be from a god, Yang reasoned. She thought she could faintly feel where it was coming from. Resolved to findthe source, Yang began following the energy trail to where she felt itstrongest.
It led her to a large deep cave on the lower tier on theeast side of the mountain. She walked down a winding path from the entrance toan enormous open chamber. Yang marveled at the sight. The ceiling was airyfigment of dark-blue indigo with twinkling lights dotting the artificial skylike stars, a cave of perpetual night.
So caught up in her strange and beautiful surroundings, she almost didn’t notice a goddess in the form of a young dark haired girl inflowing black robes, sitting in a branch of a large leafless tree, reading abook. So this was where the dark energywas coming from.
Yang approached the base of the tree. “Hey, are you theone helping the Vacuans in the battle against the Atlesians?”
“What if I am?” the goddess asked, keeping her gaze onher book.
“The Vacuans are bad news. You’re helping the wrong side. They attacked the Atlesian cites–”
“After the Atlesians burned their fleet,” she retorted. “There’sno such thing as good or evil in war. Just a horde of foolish mortals trying tokill each other.”
“Oh…”
For a long moment, they stayed in their respectivepositions in silence. The battle was ending soon, with their conflictingenergies, the tide of fortune did not change for either side. It ended in adraw.
Meh,Yang thought, better luck next time. She was far more interested in the dark-haired goddess in front of her. She wasbeautiful, midnight tresses in gentle waves flowing over her lithe shoulders. Her eyes were an intriguing shade of amber and she had the most adorable pairof cat ears on the top of her head.
“What’s your name?”
The goddess looked annoyed to be distracted from herbook. She sighed. “Blake.”
“That’s a cool name!” Yang gestured to herself with herthumb. “I’m Yang! The goddess of Ligh–”
“I know who you are,” Blake said, cutting her off. You’reYang, the goddess of Light. Taiyang’s golden child. Goddess of light, happiness, pretty hair and parties.” Blake wrinkled her nose. “You’re as bad asBacchus.”
“You think I’m just a dumb party god?” Yang asked, sounding slightly hurt. “Well I’ll have you know I’m more than meets–”
“The eye,” Blake sighed, interrupting her again. “I heardyour song hymn.”
Yang stared at her indignantly with her mouth open. “I… Youknow for someone who pretends not to care, you sure know a lot about me!”
Blake hummed nonchalantly as she directed her attentionback to her book.
Yang threw her hands up and stomped off.
“This goddess is alost cause,” Blake heard Yang say as she walked away. She smirked andturned the page.

This is so pretty and whimsical!
We decided we wanted to do another piece for @bmblbweek kind of late, and when I say kind of late, I mean that we finished lines at 2am and started furiously coloring.

My favourite scene was the 1 second at the Beacon dance where Yang did save Blake a dance. It was so romantically coded. I loved the way she twirled her, holding her hand. I never saw anything like that with two female characters in western animation before. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities. And look at where we are now! It’s not a question of ‘if it happens’, it’s a question of when :).
What is your favorite bumbleby scene. Also what is the bumbleby scene which you think hints the most at their feelings for each other? The kind of scene that someone who does not know anything about the show, sees, and is like oh this is gay
favorite is probably the waterfall scene...i still to this day am not over that. i’m not gonna break my promise. i know you won’t. that was so fucked up and watching that live? i genuinely feel like i discovered a new emotion
as for the gayest scene, i genuinely think their recent reunion was like, “they are gay and in love.” like if i saw a gifset of that, no context, yang’s obvious blush and the hand on the cheek and the forehead touch, i’d be like, this is lesbian activity. but also, the waterfall scene. also, burning the candle. also every single one of their scenes, because they’re all gay. that is that on that!
