This is one of the reasons I love pantomimes so much. One year our regional theatre did a production of Peter Pan, and since I am a regular pantomime attendor, I knew the whole thing of audience participation.
So I roped my husband, his friend and his friend's family, to go to Peter Pan with me, dressed as pirates. We boo'd Peter and cheered Hook, and we got SO MUCH interaction with the cast. They loved us! It was different and fun, and we all had a blast!
Definitely try and find a panto if you don't have a Shakespeare troop near you.
love shakespeare. did a hamlet run tonight, looked someone dead in the eye to say “am i a coward?” during a speech and the fucker shrugged and nodded

You've been cast into a fictional setting, and you don't get to pick your genre. This wheel picks it for you.

My favourite misspelling is when someone intends to write "definitely" but ends up writing "defiantly".
"The couple defiantly wanted to find somewhere private."
"I defiantly love (insert cultural interest thing here)"

One thing that has become (once again) a big part of my life, is recording and assisting with LibriVox.org
This is a website where you can find free audiobooks, read by volunteers, of any public domain work.
It's something I started in 2008 in College, and then did another stint from 2015-2017 before a personal loss, and then new motherhood, had me take a hiatus.
I started up again this summer, reading a bit, but then realizing that with my two kids, I don't have the time available with silence to record and edit things, however I can coordinate and proof listen.
So I've been doing a bunch of behind the scenes stuff for the last few months.
My proudest new project is the Community Podcast. It used to be a weekly, then monthly, then whenever thing. The last post being in 2020. I decided that since no one else had the bandwidth to make more, I'd get a simple update and highlight kind of deal going monthly, just to give everyone another place to grow the community.
I'm just about to release the second one this Friday, and I'm so thrilled to have gotten back into it.
If you think any of this sounds fun, please check out the website and forum. We love new volunteers and it's one of the healthiest communities I've been a part of.

every time i listen to “you’re a mean one mr. grinch” i can’t help but sit there and think “what did the grinch do to hurt you?” because dude just stands there for 2 minutes and 58 seconds and drags the grinch into the dirt

Ok but like. What the fuck is there to do on the internet anymore?
Idk when I was younger, you could just go and go and find exciting new websites full of whatever cool things you wanted to explore. An overabundance of ways to occupy your time online.
Now, it's just... Social media. That's it. Social media and news sites. And I'm tired of social media and I'm tired of the news.
Am I just like completely inept at finding new things or has the internet just fallen apart that much with the problems of SEO and web 3.0 turning everything into a same-site prison?

When personal life feels too much
Tumblr media
Yeah I'm personal blogging on here but this is the only place that no one from the real world knows me.
So I start my new job on Thursday and I'm super excited, but I'm also so very worn down.
I was not expecting to be a stay at home mom for an extra 8 months. I love being a mother, I am not great at being with them 24/7.
My husband being off all summer has been a blessing and a curse. It's been nice having him around and seeing him get extra time with the kids, but he has majorly thrown off any and every schedule that I had set up.
I currently am super excited to be working out of the house for the first time in 4.5 years (I have honestly felt trapped in my house with lockdowns and work from home on top of mat leave, which in Canada is 1 year).
I also am dealing with Mom guilt because I'm so excited to not have toddlers touching me, hitting me, screaming at me, nursing on me...
I guess we will see how things are going in a month when we have our new morning schedule worked out.

I basically have the job with an August 12 start date, they just have to get the papers finalized with HR and I should have them by the end of the week!!
Had a very promising interview today. I know my references are good. I’ll know by Wednesday next week if I got it or not but I really feel like I got it.

You've probably seen polls about "Would you sing for X minutes / in front of X many people / etc. for $" before. Well. Here's another one!
If you sing a song in front of 50,000 people, you get a million dollars... but this time, you don't get to pick the song.
Spin this wheel of song options, and that's what you have to sing in front of a stadium full of people. You will have 30 minutes to prepare.

i'm just curious bc i'm watching How to Train Your Dragon and i always forget how happy and calm it makes me feel. i mean, i did name my cat after Toothless the dragon. but i also love Lion King, that's my Disney comfort movie. and my Ghibli comfort movie is Spirited Away. watching any of these when i'm in a foul mood or my anxiety is high always helps 🥰 but i watch them just for fun too, not only when i'm in a mood. what about you?
