R. Tessera / Tile Rat — my piece for titmouse NYC’s first art show. 🐀 this little guy’s made out of paperclay, gouache, pastel, tiny mosaic squares, and an old subway token mounted on a 4” x 4” tile. he’s like a child to me.

How did you paint the Calico Critter? She is perfect!

thank you!! I used watered down acrylic gouache that I dabbed on with a small paintbrush. if you pat your brush on a bit of towel after sticking it into the watered down gouache it makes it just about the right consistency to not be too watery but also not so thick that it completely removes the softness of the flocking.

made a li’l calico critter izutsumi. I bought a few used calico critters a couple of years ago & when the dungeon meshi anime premiered, well, I finally decided to modify one. her clothes are made from a scrap of leather a friend found, wire, a pleather band that was used to hold something I bought, felt, bookbinding fabric, and cord.
