One of my favorite Monsters at Work 2 designs… this is the Tuskmon family’s TINY BATHROOM! Love all of Grandma T’s dencher jars hogging all the space.

As always, I’m late to the party… MONSTERS AT WORK SEASON 2 is currently streaming on Disney+! Here are some of my designs, starting with Tylor’s Bedroom (which kicks off the whole season in the very first shot!)
Working with the Monsters crew was such joy. The combined talents of everyone is visible on screen, and I’m grateful to have played a part in telling this impactful story.

Help the SOCKEYE SALMON reach their spawning grounds! • Sockeye salmon are born in lakes, rivers, and streams, but spend their adult lives in the Pacific Ocean. When they’re old enough, they make the upstream trek back to their birthplaces to spawn (and they even turn from silver to red+green to mark the occasion!) They must overcome predators, outdated dams, and fishermen along their incredible journey.

Time for an OTTER MAZE! Monterey Bay is home to so many bitchin’ animals, including everyone’s fav- the California Sea Otter. This keystone species keeps the kelp forests healthy by chowing on kelp-hungry sea urchins. I’ve spent much of my life sitting on the beach, eating musubis, and watching the otters be otters. (It’s just… a thing we do lol) 🍙 I hope that this endangered species will be around for many more years to come! They’re too adorable and too important to lose.

I LOVE MAZES When I was a kid, I used to make mazes for my friends (so we could hang out through art, even if they didn't enjoy drawing). Still at it! Hope you get a kick out of a nabeyaki udon maze, and have an A-MAZE-ING DAY! 🍲

Final “Green Eggs and Ham 2” post- some Episode 10, “The Mom Who Loved Me”, visual development! I think aspects of these early drawings can be felt in the final art, and it’s fun to look back and see where it all started. I enjoyed expanding on Gluntz’ character- a bit of a music nut who takes her work a little too seriously (although, maybe not, since she cracks the case and delivers arguably the most important dialogue of the series). • I learned so much while working on this series, and I’m grateful to have been a part of its talented crew! 💚 Art Director: @billperkinsart Episode Director: Brad Raymond •

This is where Looka likes to post up… The Pad, you know, The Crib. The Spot. 😆 I loved designing Looka’s bedroom in Ep. 9 “On Her Dookess’ Secret Service” of “Green Eggs and Ham 2”. I chose BG design as a career because I like getting into the minds of characters to create their spaces. Looka is a curious, open-minded tween… his thin veil of coolness can’t hide his true interests and sweet personality. 🧸 To me, this story is one of optimism towards young people, whose broad-mindedness holds the key to a brighter tomorrow. • Art Director: @billperkinsart Ep. I loved designing this vertigo-inducing prison for Ep. 8 of “Green Eggs and Ham”. I gave the Seuss architecture my best shot… it’s easy to say “draw it like Dr. Seuss”, but actually doing it is something else. Bill’s interpretation of “Seuss” found a good middle ground between zany and animation-friendly… I could ramble for days about how much I learned about ingesting this style and creating a new one. It was hit and miss along the way, but I think we found more than a few successful moments! ☺️ • Art director: @billperkinsart Episode Director: Brad Raymond

Designs from Ep. 7 of “Green Eggs and Ham 2”. I honestly love coming up with prop ideas as much as backgrounds, and the Safe House has some of my FAVS. These pull tab Insta-sleepover sleeping bags- need those in my life (Piero’s idea). Business on the outside, party on the inside caboodle- yes please. Sam’s paper bag therapy puppets- weird AF and I’m here for it. • Art Director: @billperkinsart Episode Director: Piero Piluso #greeneggsandham#greeneggsandhamnetflix#warnerbrosanimation #netflix#2danimation #backgrounddesign#layout #animationart#visualdevelopment#artistsoninstagram

Had a ball designing the island for “Green Eggs and Ham 2” Ep. 6, “You Only Mom Twice”! 🌴Designing the plants and trees was a tag team effort with @quintin_puebla, during which we got a crash course in foliage from @billperkinsart. It was a massive privilege to learn from Bill on this project… he is a wealth of Disney layout and design knowledge. I just tried to grab on to as much of his advice as I could! In the case of this episode, the lesson was how to design efficient/abbreviated foliage a la “Tarzan”. I felt kind of unsure at the beginning of the process, but in the end it came together! • Episode directed by Brad Raymond

Some more “Green Eggs and Ham 2” art- this is from episode 5, “To Yookia With Love”. This episode follows EB as she enjoys a night with Looka in Yookia. I really loved designing the Yookia Natural History Museum (like Looka, I also 💚 natural history museums… he has good taste) I think this episode just looks mega-awesome and the art department rocked it out. • Art Director: @billperkinsart, Episode Director: Piero Piluso
