yooooo great ace attorney?? do you like it so far?

ahem i just finished marathoning the second game this weekend and I LOVE THEM A LOT. the writing manages to feel incredibly faithful to the themes of the original trilogy while also embarking on new ambitious ground. i love the main characters with all my heart (sholmes’s little family is so charming, asoryuu should absolutely kiss). the art direction and color design is beautiful and it might have one of the hottest casts of characters ive ever seen in a video game 😭 i will say that the first game feels like a tutorial for way too long. it is also very easy, with only the final case really posing a challenge. however, the second game is front to back filled with great cases, and is easily my favorite ace attorney game ever

Hiii, I just found your blog and I love your birds and flowers serie, it's beautiful!! I was wondering how you chose which bird goes with which flower ?

hi there, thank you for asking <3 so the inspiration for this series comes from bird and flower paintings/花鳥畫, one of the three major genres of paintings in chinese art. the genre has multiple schools of thought/styles under its umbrella, but they're all united under being 1) generally focused on plant and animal motifs and 2) focused on stylizing nature for ~artistic expression~ over copying nature directly. also bird-and-flower paintings include way more beyond birds and flowers. you'll find bugs, vegetables, and beyond in them too!!

here's one guy i think is particularly neat:

anyways, my goal for my series is not to duplicate the style of these paintings but the spirit. (also, i just wanted to try my hand at pixelling a bunch of birds and flowers since i like them haha). i generally pick the bird first, then research what interesting flowers would turn up in their habitat, and then select the flowers based on what shapes/colors i think would make a tasty pairing with the bird. or, i think up if there could be any little narratives/symbolism i could put in. the series has been very fun and relaxing for me to make, so definitely expect more in the future!

no, unfortunately i'm not the most avid gamer and am often a few years behind. as in, the current game i'm playing is the great ace attorney, and i only finished hollow knight this year sldkfjlskj. thanks for the rec tho!
