Can y'all imagine the absolute train wreck that could happen when he realizes that he does like Amy and attempts to replicate a big dramatic confession he's seen on TV? Poor kid thinks they're Mordecai and Margaret when they're really Rigby and Eileen lol

One of my favs hc about Movie!Sonic is that he's terrible at romance. But he's not just bad at it because he's emotionally traumatized, but because of how he's been socialized.

Sonic was raised by pop culture here on Earth. And movies, TV shows, and media in general tend to approach romantic love and relationships as bombastic events, grand gestures, and overwhelming feelings, etc. So I imagine him seeing real romances like Tom and Maddie and kind of taking a while to connect the dots because real, everyday romance is mundane and simple and different from the drama he's seen. And this ties in with my other HQ that Sonic doesn't realize his crush on Amy because his feelings for her have the opposite effect on him. Fast heartbeats? That's how he usually is. But with Amy, his heartbeat slows down instead because he finds peace and comfort in her, and it confuses him. Anxiety around his SO? Nah, he's Amy, they're joined at the hip. Misunderstandings? Amy would drag him into a conversation by force. Just...Sonic having a devastating crush on Amy and him swearing that is friendship™ because besides the emotional trauma, legitimately his feelings are not how he learned what a crush is supposed to be (although yes, everyone knows except the two of them and Tom and Maddie go help their poor dense son)

THIS! Just…YES TO ALL OF THIS. Not too different from canon Sonic, but that's more so because of him not realizing Amy’s love for him was NEVER to slow him down, but because she loves him FOR WHO HE IS. Movie!Sonic just needs to recognize what romantic love is while canon Sonic needed to know what it means.

Sometimes, I have to slow down and remember that there is no time limit to writing my fics. I don't have to finish it by a certain date. I can work on something else if I'd like to. I can write a one-shot focusing on a side character or filling in backstory. I can take a detour from the main plot and write a fun, silly chapter about the characters just hanging out. I don't have to drop every other fic and write the new idea I had right this exact minute. It'll still be there later, and if it isn't, that's okay, too. I can let things sit on the backburner as long as it takes for it to become the fic that I want it to be. And not everything has to turn into a fic. It's okay for it to just stay an idea or a concept I think about or post about or talk to my friends about now and then. It's alright for an idea to be just an idea.

🦔 Favorite version of Sonic? It's a tie between Movie and Boom. I've loved watching Movie Sonic grow up over the course of the movies, and frankly, he's just adorable. As for Boom Sonic, I like him because he's kind of realistic. He's flawed, and all he wants from life is to relax and occasionally battle his nemesis to keep things interesting.

📺 Favorite TV show? Sonic Boom! Hands down. It's actually one of the first pieces of Sonic media with which I interacted (if not the first; I don't remember anymore). I mean, you're telling me that this is a meta, mildly surrealist sitcom about SONIC? It was made for me.

💫 Dream Sonic Show/Story? Alright, this one is kinda out there, but bear with me! I loved Sonic Boom because it was a comedy that knew EXACTLY what it was and leaned into the insanity. So, my pitch is a 2D animated comedy variety show with segments for various combinations of characters from the extended cast. Sonic and Tails act as the central focus, such as having an overarching plot that ties the other characters' plotlines together or just having the plotlines that make up the bulk of the episodes. So, like a combination of Animaniacs and Friends! But with Sonic :3

✍️ Favorite fanfiction? I promise I'm not self-centered, but full disclosure? My favorite fanfic right now is actually one I'm writing. I'm in love with it because it's exactly what I wanna read lol. But my other favorite right now is Observant Carl and the Blue Devil by @ninja-knox-ur-sox-off! It's just awesome and REALLY worth reading.

Here's Shadow in the Sonamy emo band AU! I know, it's the SONAMY emo band AU, and I haven't finished designing Sonic and Amy yet lol. But I joked that half of this AU hinges on Shadow desperately wanting to be Pete Wentz, and uh. My hand slipped.

I used some pictures from old Fall Out Boy magazine photo shoots as ideas for the overall vibe of this, which worked out a lot better than I was expecting. And, of course, the hoodie is very much a Pete-inspired look. I really had fun with this one, and I'm hoping I can finish Sonic and Amy's designs soon!

What Did I Miss? Ch. 6: A Boring Life in a Boring Town

NEW CHAPTER! (Sorry it took seven months.)

For a story about Yakko, this update is seriously lacking in our main character; it's time for Wakko and especially Dot to shine for the moment. We get an explanation about what happened after Yakko disappeared, and back in the present, Wakko and Dot have a (mostly) serious conversation about how to deal with their now-younger-brother.

Anyway, I hope it was worth the wait! At just under 6000 words, this is the longest chapter in the fic so far, and I really had fun writing this one lol

has this been done before. it's been plaguing me in my dreams so i had to make it real.

Just realized that if ANYONE from the Sonic cast would have an AO3 account, it would absolutely be Shadow. It's the one website he can use. He stumbled onto it by complete accident when he was trying to look up where to watch some TV show that everyone else was obsessed with. Instead, he found a 200k fanfic about a secondary couple, read the whole thing in one night, and never watched the show itself.

When he's having "water-cooler" conversations with Rouge or Amy or anyone else about the show, he keeps bringing up stuff that definitely didn't happen in canon. No one knows why until he mentions where he found it, and Tails is kind enough to explain what AO3 is.

So instead of bothering to watch whatever show everybody else is into, Shadow just reads longfic about it because he likes reading fanfic better than actually watching it. He leaves essay-length, formally worded comments detailing the things he liked about each chapter and is eternally infuriated by the fact that he can't figure out how to give multiple kudos.
