OMG TYSM ANON 😭❤ i think celebrimbor regard highly of annatar before the revelation, but he knew something is wrong. beneath the light annatar present himself in, there's something primordial that stirs. galadriel warning worries him.

it's an unknown terror. he both idolize and fear, annatar. there's a sense of denial when it comes to his identity. perhaps he knew who annatar really is, and he wishes that the maia has change his way. or perhaps the idea of him being subjected by and used by an enemy that was warned by his forefathers will ruin him. either way, he's in a conflicting spot. he stubbornly hold on to this single moment that he shared with annatar, and brushes what will happen in the future.

it's tragic in a way- maybe annatar understand him where others failed. maybe it's their love for the forge that blind him from seeing the truth.

In silvergifting, do you think sauron genuinely loved celebrimbor or was it like a rebound for him after melkor (as portrayed in many silvergifting fics)?

GOOD QUESTION. now i personally believe that sauron do love celebrimbor. i don't ever think it's a rebound. i believe each of his relationships and the connections he had with someone is genuine. ( ar pharazon does not count. he's praying on that man downfall since he step foot in numenor lmao. he scheme his way ). galadriel is a mirror to his younger self—ever so prideful and passionate. whereas celebrimbor is his skill, and his love for the art of forging. it's always someone he wishes he can connect with, since he believe what he did is for the good of the world. each one is a piece of himself scattered across these characters.

i see sauron as a being that yearn to be loved and feared all the same. i think he was truly fascinated by celebrimbor as a person. i believe both of them do share their knowledge out of respect to one another before celebrimbor knew who annatar is. there was a genuine friendship between the two of them- which unfortunately torn by sauron own ego. his desire for power and reshaping of the world took that away from him, and now he lost ( another ) person that he can connect with.

Melkor voice is gentle—almost motherly in tone. When he speak it is in whisper; concern, shrouding his lies. He would soothe the heart with malice, as his words linger by the ear. A song that stir corruption, and loathing amongst the children of Eru. Blinded by fear ( to one another ), they seek him for peace.

Mairon coat his words with friendliness; feigning warmth with his voice. He smile bright, yet his eyes distant. The touch that he give betray the benign nature of his presence. At times he would leave a bruise by the fragile bode, and his violent curiousity would seek the pain without hiding.

"Forgive me, I do not mean any harm," an empty laugh, yet his fingers presses on. "It seems I can never free myself of forging the entire world and every being that I come across." A light humor disguise a bestial disdain.

oh I LOVE both of them !!! these two ships got me losing my mind. there's just so many angst and interesting dynamic to think of- i seriously can't stop thinking how tragic these two are. i'm a little bias though, because silvergifting is my main ship.

angbang : melkor first interaction when he met mairon.... mairon reaction to the capture of melkor and his repent... melkor returning to his headquarter as he seek for mairon.. and then mairon reaction to the capture of melkor 2.0... etc etc. IT'S JUST AUGH.

silvergifting : THE SINS OF OUR FATHER. the cycle that celebrimbor continue as he repeat what feanor did. the fear. the impending doom. annatar infatuation toward the rings AND celebrimbor skill. the doubt- the BETRAYAL. LITERALLY ALL MY FAV DYNAMIC.
