Notable News Update on the Itch.io/Steam Adult Content Situation, 7/31/25:

Itch.io has posted a new update on the status of Adult and NSFW content on their site. The post can be found here but, for the tl;dr crowd:

They are in the process of re-indexing all Free Adult and NSFW content.

What Does that Even Mean? If you have Adult/NSFW content hosted on Itch.io and you want it to start showing up in Search results again, you will need to select the 'No Payments' option. So you won't be able to get any donations/revenue from it for the time being.

The hunt for a new payment processor so business can return to something akin to normal is still ongoing.

Itch.io is also in the process of trying to implement a new 'Content Warnings' flag for Adult and NSFW content as a sort of 'foolproof, Dead Dove/Do Not Eat' failsafe so no one can go 'How was I suppose to know that this platform allowed such awful content~?!'

This flag system is still very much a work-in-progress but they have guaranteed a new, in-depth post when it is completed.

Other Notable Updates:

Visa is continuing to complain about the volume of phone calls they have been getting about this issue.

This is by no means a sign to stop calling them.

Stripe has made a statement that was delivered via Leafo, the main admin for Itch.io. Quote, 'Stripe is currently unable to support sexually explicit content due to restrictions placed on them by their banking partners, despite card networks generally supporting adult content (with the appropriate registrations). Stripe has indicated that they hope to be able to support adult content in the future.'

This is, by no means, a sign to stop calling/emailing them.

Though phone calls and physical letters are the most encouraged method of expressing your concern to the main payment-processors (Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Stripe), if you are only able to send emails, the effort is still appreciated. Just know that you have be a little tricky in making sure someone will actually read said emails.

Can we include darebee.com with ao3 and wikipedia on our list of really good nonprofits with excellent services that we stan?

It's a free, no sign-up, no ads fitness resource created by professionals who view this as activism (fitness should be accessible to everyone), and it's very thoughtful and thorough.

Features I really like:

- all instructions for workout routines are diagrammed on single pages with a clean, easy to read layout

- there's 30 or 60 day programs you can follow if you, like me, don't know what to do. they take you through a rotation of workouts so you're working different muscle groups on different day for a specific purpose

- there's so much variety and there's a filter so you can find the level and your goals and type of workout you wanna do

- you don't need any equipment

- some of the programs are RPGs or adventure stories! How's that for motivation. There's also badges and achievements or something but I haven't looked that closely at how that works yet

- they're nerds. they name workouts after D&D classes. There's a Lannistrr workout, a batcave workout, a witcher workout

- I've only scratched the surface

Saw a post pointing out that the idea of a Saturday-Sunday weekend is in itself cultural Christianity being applied to the whole “secular” world, that in Israel the weekend is Friday-Saturday and in some Muslim-majority countries the weekend is Thursday-Friday or only Friday (in others it’s Friday-Saturday as well.)

Anyway to make a truly secular and inclusive world I propose a Monday-Wednesday work-week and a Thursday-Sunday weekend. I think anyone of any or no religion could all get behind this.

To get back on the subject of Dr Watson's wife... Surprisingly, after their meeting in The Sign of Four, Holmes and Mary are never granted a scene together again. The few times she appears, she is firmly ensconced in the domestic sphere, away from any adventures her husband might be partaking in. In "The Engineer's Thumb", Watson writes that he "occasionally" manages to convince Holmes to visit them, but such a visit is never recorded. She never mentions paying a visit to Baker Street herself, and is conveniently offstage when Holmes calls on his friend, either away from home on a trip...or simply in another room of the house.

Many have been tempted to make this a matter of jealousy between Mrs Watson and Holmes, but from the little we glimpse, it's clear that she has a certain regard for him and his relationship with her husband. Although their marriage never canonically competes with the one partnership at the heart of the stories, it is clearly overshadowed by it. Her role is sadly restricted to that of a minor plot point, before disappearing post-hiatus with little explanation.

I think teens need to be able to go to trusted adults and say “I saw something in a porn video that freaked me out and now I’m worried I’ll have to do it too” and then the adult can say “it’s ok to be nervous about sex, but remember that you don’t have to do ANYTHING you don’t want to do, ever, no exceptions” and this should be an ongoing conversation to remind young people that sexual desire isn’t monolithic and they are not uniquely weird, cowardly, or undesirable for expressing their feelings, and they deserve sexual partners who prioritize consent & autonomy always
