Imagine you are Silver Vanrouge and you wake up for just another day of your knightly duties 😌 except… when you look at your reflection mid-combing your hair, you’re greeted with shining blonde and not silver. The comb falls from your hand and clatters to the floor, and you’re send sprinting out of the washroom. Fighting back tears, scrambling to the closest mirror gate.

When you finally find him, he’s small and pale and frail, the shadow of the man that taken you in and given you a place to call home, a person to call family. You hold him to your chest, your nails like claws, and loudly weep. It’s not a pretty cry, the kind where your sobs are silent as tears trickle in manageable streams down your cheeks. It’s the guttural screech of a wild animal, a gush of tears like blood spurting from a deep gash.

Lilia has passed away in the night, and you weren’t by his side when it happened.

That guilt continues to haunt you everywhere you look. You see him amid the wildflowers, which he was wreathed in during the funeral. You see him in the stars, the place where he has ascended to, the place you cannot reach. You see him in every story heard and shared. You see him in the acorns that dot the forest floor, which remind you of that withered old piece of jewelry he clung to, even as his mental acuity and body declined. Even when he was not lucid enough to remember your name or his relation to you, some small, fragmented part of him always knew that acorn bracelet was important to him.

His ghost follows you well into your twilight years. Your skin gnarls like an oak tree’s trunk Your golden hair fades into silver. Your time, you know, is slowly coming to its end too.

Most would fear this moment, when Death comes with its sickle to reap your human soul and return it to the earth. The loss of their youth, their vibrancy and strength diminishing. But not you. You’re relieved, almost peaceful, with each passing year.

Little by little, your hair is returning to its namesake—the name Lilia had blessed you with. It brings you a sense of comfort, tethers you to him. You’re closer to him than you’ve ever been.

You don’t fear Death.

You’ll reunite with your father soon enough, whenever your time comes.

And that, perhaps, is the happiest ending you could ask for.

what if i did dinah and scarabia student b duo

loop 1 would be student b noticing just how much of book 4 left a bad taste in Dinah’s mouth, and so he tries to help with their perspective of Scarabia by befriending them, actually starts enjoying their time together

later loops have them meeting by chance in shared clubs or classes and gravitating to each other like birds of a feather
