Had the same thing happen one christmas. All of us kids pooled our cash to buy mom-in-law a new sewing machine (she'd said she needed one). At present opening, she got the first strip of wrapping off the box and saw "Hüsqvarna". Her comment, "Oh wow, you bought me a chainsaw!"

Things that happen when you live back in the hills and mudslides across the road are a regular event...

I discovered later that Husqvarna also make chainsaws, but my introduction to them was their sewing machines. So every time I see these terribly butch men with their Husqvarna shirts – or in the latest case, thick Husqvarna braces over hairy naked shoulders – they might as well say BERNINA in big red chunky sans serif letters.

sad thought: Chuuya has never been free. Verlaine and Rimbaud showed up to steal him, not free him. A point to Verlaine for realizing that, but his behavior in Storm Bringer is back to ownership, not caring. Shirase and the Sheep took care of Chuuya, but pretty quickly switched to dependency and ownership (He's our guard dog! We need him to survive!) Dazai "freed" him from the Sheep, but trapped him into the Mafia. And he'll never let Chuuya go, even after he's left the Mafia himself.

No wonder Chuuya is pissed off a lot of the time. That, and all the trauma baggage he has locked away in a back closet that's chained shut.

Dazai's murder of devils

I realized on Saturday that I had never done colored versions of Dazai's murder of devils that buzz around his head giving commentary. The thing to remember is, he doesn't have a shoulder-angel. They're all devils.

for the first second or two, it's jaguar formation swimming. Then they start dunking each other.

They just can't resist smacking each other in the face. I saw an ear nip or two, as well as the whole "nyah, get dunked!" action.

in general, it's a stress reaction. Or rather, a way to alleviate stress. Just like hughing your arms around yourself or rocking. "Normal" people do all those things when anxious, upset or injured.

Not going to speculate further, since it's out of my knowledge base.

Asking as someone on the spectrum - do other people with asd compulsively hold on to their opposite shoulder even when there’s no injury?

I only noticed a few months ago when I had a ligament tear and was like “this is how I like to hold my arm anyway”

I don’t do it consciously, but I def notice myself doing it now

All right, who else is watching this series? And is there a manga? 12 episodes in and the timeline has almost come unsnarled. Though there's still no clue what the Fall of Dawn event was that kicked off this scenario.

Storyline is at *second* tournament this guy has won, and almost nothing has been revealed about him.

Animated and manga Harlock Saga. Sadly, the story is "wtf?" for both, though at least Goddamerung wasn't babyfied in the manga.

How Harlock lost his eye

Well, one of them. Matsumoto likes to retell certain stories.

aaaw, you're forgetting Harlock from the 78 series. He embraces his inner drunk. Yes, he's grieving, but he's not the embittered lunatic from the 2012 movie, not the uptight military man from Arcadia of my Youth. A little bit smarter than Space Symphony Maetel version, and not the *asshole* that he is when we meet him in GE666 series. Oh yeah, and *old* and bitter in Dimensional Voyage (pretty animation, disaster plot). And plain wtf? Harlock Saga, Gun Frontier, In the Cockpit, and...Submarine 99? What else? Diver 0, where he was pretty damn bloodthirsty.

I consider Young Harlock from CWZ and slightly older from Harlock78 to be pretty congruent. The universes mostly mesh, especially if you make allowances for "No, that was a stupid idea after all. Let's try that story again" sections. Matsumoto did that a lot.
