what the fuck. trans men may be treated like women? in a society that sees us as women?

you are genuinely an infuriating person to see on the internet. and i am not even a transandrophobia guy.

for one thing, you seem to believe that every trans guy magically gains male privilege when they come out. this is not true. if society sees us as women, we will be treated as women.

for another, trans men absolutely do experience misogyny, because society still sees a lot of us as women. just because YOU pass doesn’t mean everyone does. i myself don’t pass.

also, trans men ABSOLUTELY experience violence and bigotry specific to being transmasc. i’ve literally been assaulted with the intention of knocking me up so i cannot transition and ‘ruin my body’. that is a very specific thing that happened because i am transmasc

you also invade every single post about transmasc-specific violence in order to derail it and suggest that the poster is transmisogynistic, regardless of whether or not the post even mentions transfems. you claim that these people are always ‘inferring’ transmisogyny, or that they’re saying it without saying it clearly, but i have read these posts and you are full of shit.

you also accuse trans women of not being trans women when they disagree with you lmao.

also, for some reason, you seem to think that trans men immediately benefit from male privilege when they become trans. and that ENRAGES me, because of how blatantly untrue it is. you come at users who use the phrase ‘identify as’ and go ‘well are we men? or are we not?’

are you stupid? do you think that the entire rest of society actually respects trans people? i have tits. i have wide hips. i have a high pitched voice. i have been out for years. i am still treated like a woman, because the he/him badge on my lanyard does not change the fact that a large amount of people do not respect my identity.

you are profoundly unable to recognise any nuance when it comes to the discussion of anti-transmasculinity and male privilege. you do not consider anyone except for passing white trans men in your discussions.

you are not helping trans women by attacking trans men. the only thing you ever seem to do is try to harm trans men for simply talking about our experiences. your dedication to misinterpreting innocent posts and being rude is absolutely incredible i applaud you for your accomplishment of being absolutely insufferable

the sheer fucking audacity of transandrophobia truthers to say shit like "everyone just thinks we should shut up and quit whining, sound familiar? people are saying that we're trying to dominate the conversation and that we need to be nicer, reminds you of something doesn't it?" like ok are you seen as men or not? do you understand how women's complaints are sidelined or not? how can you make it any more obvious that you see yourselves as closer to "womanhood" than trans women. you're literally implying that your words aren't being heard because you're being treated like women.

trans men DO have specific problems. just because some of our problems affect other groups doesn’t mean that both groups are impacted in the same way. therefore, the way these issues impact us is unique to our transmasc identity specifically.

also, not all trans men have male privilege, because society treats us as women if they can clock us as trans. if we don’t pass, we are treated like women, and don’t get male privilege.

can we all understand that? is that really so abysmally difficult to understand? some of you people are so abysmally bad at understanding how different factors affect a situation and it blows my mind

i saw this dude say ‘trans men are men right? so we must have male privilege. do you think we are not men?’ and refused to believe that male privilege is not magically gifted to every trans man ever and that we have to actually Pass As Cis to gain access to CONDITIONAL male privilege

a short discussion of some of the specific ways that misogyny affects trans men and transmascs

(i can elaborate on any of these points if need be)

disclaimer: not all of these are exclusive to transmasc oppression; a lot of these points can be seen in transmisogyny and other forms of transphobia. this is just some of the ways that misogyny affects trans men and trans mascs specifically

(TRIGGER WARNINGS: mentions of corrective rape and forced pregnancy)

trans men and transmascs often will have misogynistic stereotypes weaponised against us by cis men and even cis women. this includes:

- infantilisation: we will be treated like we do not know what we want. we are often treated like misguided women who can't be trusted to figure out our own identity. specifically, people will tell us that we're just lesbian or tomboys and will constantly dismiss our dysphoria.

- objectification: we will be entirely reduced to our bodies, but specifically in terms of our attractiveness and perceived childbirthing capabilities. for example, people frequently say things like 'but you're so pretty! why would you want to go on T?' or 'you're so hot! why would you want to get rid of your breasts?' or 'don't you want children? why would you want to transition?'

- 'hysterical woman' stereotype. people will insistently deadname and misgender us and then, when we protest, they treat us like overdramatic and hysterical women who are getting upset over nothing

- one thing that specifically affects transmascs and trans men is that a significant amount of cis men feel some degree of want to impregnate us so we cannot transition. there is a very specific form of sexual violence against transmascs designed to 'put us in our place' in a very misogynistic way. they want to remind us that they see us as women, and as an extension of that, that they see women as sex toys and baby makers

- also, cis men transphobes think they have a right to correctively rape us. they see us as women, and so they think that they have a right to our bodies, and by extension, a right to inflict sexual violence on us if we don't conform to their ideas of what a woman should be

this is my side blog for discussing transmasc struggles and anti-transmasculinity in the hopes to educate younger tumblr users on that subject

majority of my posts will be through my personal lense (not passing white disabled trans man) but there will also be posts discussing the ways anti-transmasc transphobia intersects with other things such as race and ethnicity because transmascs of colour are ridiculously overlooked in our community

however. just because i post about transmasc stuff doesn't mean that you can come on here and be transmisogynistic or rude to anyone else under the trans umbrella. if i catch any of you being transmisogynistic or otherwise transphobic then i am going to edit this post and put your username under a block list. transfems and everyone else under the trans umbrella are our siblings and i will not tolerate intercommunity transphobia
