She was starting to regret not going, if only to see Steph in character. Her raspy, rough-edged voice, wielding a sword, sweat glistening across her collarbones…

(Steph is away. Alex is restless.)

Just read your fic about Alex comforting Steph through her Arcadia Bay trauma (absolutely peak writing btw <3) and was thinking about if you had hcs/ideas about Alex comforting Steph in the save Arcadia Bay ending

Ok so! I think in some ways, the effects of the Bay ending would still present in the way I imagined them in that particular fic. Still withdrawn and anxious during October, still pulling herself away from others.

HOWEVER!!! I also think that the Bay ending provides a different element: fear. And Steph probably does have this specific fear/anxiety to some degree in a post-Bae world, but I'd imagine it gets blurred with all of her other emotions about the storm (I believe Rachel's murder is still solved in the Bae ending? But I'm a little fuzzy on my LIS1 timeline so feel free to correct me!!!).

In the Bay ending, Steph's grief is rooted in the loss of two women that she loved. Two women who were murdered senselessly and horrifically in connection to a man that was a pillar of the community, trusted by the people around him. That must be so, so terrifying to come to terms with.

And then it happens again. Another person she loves, hurt by a man that was supposed to be trusted. A man that she did trust. Alex came back, she lived, but what if she hadn't? It just spins Steph out, spins her into a mess of guilt and self-hatred and visceral fear.

I think that sticks in Steph's brain, compounding all of her grief and fear over what happened in Arcadia Bay. Add on the investigations and photos taken and the Typhon detail? It would just be TOO. MUCH.

And she feels extra guilty because Alex is the one who went through it, so what right does she have to feel afraid? So she tries to hide it. Which of course does not work.

When she's in the midst of a panic attack about it all, Alex has to take her hands and remind her that "I'm here. I'm okay. We're safe." Probably over and over, on a loop, until Steph calms down. When it peaks in October, just the same as it does in the Bae ending, I think Steph's panic just goes into absolute overdrive. That's when Alex just holds her, because there's nothing else she can do. Just holds her and reminds her that everything's all right, that they're safe, that she'll get through it.

Eventually it gets easier, and Steph begins to trust herself again. Forgives herself and find a way forward. They both do. And, just like the Bae ending, when October rolls around, Alex is there, ready to hold Steph until the waves of emotion settle :')

What do you think Steph and Alex would think of the Bloom & Rage girls? (Assuming time travel shenanigans and True Colours chenrich met 1995 Bloom & Rage)

Okay so I think if the girls met as teenagers, Alex "Wiccan in middle school" Chen and Kat "have you ever wanted to lay a curse on someone?" Mikaelson would get on like a house on fire. Both full of rage at the injustices of the world and desperate to do something about it, I think! Alex would fit right in with Bloom & Rage, undoubtedly.

Steph was a little more subdued as a teenager and I think she would hesitate to get into some of the shenanigans of Bloom & Rage, she'd probably hang back a bit more. I can see her and Autumn getting along really well, especially with their love of gaming! Steph would of course be the resident DM of the group and would carefully handpaint all of their characters as figurines she would gift to them. :')

Now, if they met as adults (and I've thought about this a lot recently, lol!)? Oh, Swann and Alex would be like, soul tied, lmao. They are soooo ridiculously similar in their behaviors and mannerisms. I would genuinely loveeeee for Alex and Steph to stop by Swann's bookstore on one of their road trips, because I think Alex and Swann would end up talking for hours about anything and everything.

I think Steph and Nora specifically are very interesting to compare, because they are very similar as adults and yet very different. Steph pre-True Colors (Wavelengths) copes with ghosting and avoiding problems, very reminiscent of Nora. But where Steph has made progress on opening up about her feelings, Nora still really, really struggles with it. I'd be so intrigued to see them have a conversation about it, lmao

But yes, overall, I think they would get along swimmingly with Bloom & Rage, both as teenagers and adults! But poor Alex having to deal with all those auras, pray for her 😭
