More recent version of Knocking Knocking (Live)
Girls, this one is going to cause heart attacks and hysterics.
You have been warned. 🤣
Apologies for the first part being trimmed. Had to remove the first 30 seconds to get it under 5 minutes for Tumblr.

Actor/Actress of the Month: MAY 2020
Actor: Steven Zhang/Zhang Xin Cheng
Actress: Zhao Lu Si
Two young actors that I believe have tons of potential to grow their craft.
Zhang Xin Cheng was a joy to watch in Skate in Love, and Zhao Lu Si has great comedic timing in The Romance of Tiger and Rose. Both very talented young actors who brings a smile to my face every time they are on screen doing their thing.

Drama of the Month: MAY 2020
Title: Upload
Not exactly a “drama” in the Asian sense of the term, however Upload is a TV/web series that I completed in May and really enjoyed watching. The concept is kind of a twist on the sci-fi futuristic world, which I found amusing and interesting, especially because it plays with the idea of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) becoming a norm in everyday life and some of the flaws that come during the developing stages of VR/AR integration. Season 1 of Upload focuses a bit more on the comedy and romance and only briefly introduces the social commentary aspects of the narrative towards the end, which I didn’t mind since I watched Upload mainly for the VR/AR concept, the inter romance and comedy aspects, and it delivered in those aspects.

So sometime ago I saw on Tumblr what I think was a song dynasty skirt. It was a pink pleated skirt with an flat front (idk if it will help describing it, my English isn't the best either). I want to recreate the skirt cause it was really beautiful, and I will pay someone to sew it for me, but I'm not sure what kind of fabric would be best and is normally used on hanfu? Sorry for my lack of knowledge hope its okay to ask this.

Was it similar to this? I know these are pants but they could be adapted into a skirt as well.
Fabrics for Hanfu are varied and depend on what season or how much you’re willing to spend. Traditionally, Hanfu was made of silk or other natural fibers, but almost all commercially made hanfu are made from synthetic fibers due to their easy maintenance and texture.
For your project, may I suggest a crepe fabric? Crepe-de Chine is a beautiful fabric that is lightweight yet warm with a subtle grainy texture. It drapes and flows really well without being too translucent when thick enough. Sewing crepe does take skill, but I think it’s easier than say, thin habotai or chiffon.
Note that Crepe de Chine is the type of weave, not the fiber content. It can be made from polyester, poly blends, or higher quality fibers like silk. If you can afford it, I would spend the money to get higher quality fibers or a blend of natural and synthetic. Fibers such as viscose, rayon, or silk make excellent crepe and I love using them!
If crepe is not available, my other recommendations would be a plain weave linen or cotton for summer, or a polyester cotton blend for any season.
I hope this helps! Good luck on your project and don’t be afraid to submit photos of the finished skirt!

Actor/Actress of the Month: APRIL 2020
Actor: Allen Ren/Ren Jia Lun
Actress: Seven Tan/Tan Song Yun
Both led the drama that was Under the Power and created such wonder dynamics between their characters that it left me obsessed with the drama for a good while.
Featured images are some of their most memorable moments from Under the Power and left me impressed with their acting abilities.
I've liked Tan Song Yun since I first saw her in Whirlwind Girl, but this scene is really what solidified her as one of the most impressive young Chinese actresses in my book. The emotions she displayed through her eyes alone spoke volumes to how she was feeling and thinking in this scene. Equally impressive was Ren Jia Lun's performance in the same scene and how he handled the transitions in between each different emotion. He was able to convincingly express all his thoughts and emotions through his expressions alone and without relying on dialogue or thought voice-overs.
I'm definitely looking forward to watching more of their works, and hope they don't get typecasted into playing the same type of characters. Tan Song Yun has been playing characters that are pretty similar, so I'd love to see her branch out and explore a bit more.

Drama of the Month: APRIL 2020
Title: Under the Power/锦衣之下
The plot is average at best, but the main couple gives me life and has captured me in various aspects, so I'll feature it as the drama of the month. The main characters have such healthy relationships with each other, and the main couple's dynamic is refreshing to see. They have such a cute and trusting romance arc that all the flaws of the plot, writing, and production take second fiddle to the romance.

So I'll start a series.

A drama series and an actors series.

Is he not gorgeous though? Wang Kuan is just a wonderfully written character, and Wang YouShuo's looks and acting skills just add to the charms.

I see many hanfu wearers with Miao silver hair accessories in photo. I'm just curious if this is historically common or is it just for aesthetic purposes considering the history and tensions between the two ethnicities.
Hi, thanks for the question!
As you’ve noticed, Miao silver (苗银/miao yin) hair accessories have been popular with hanfu wearers for some time now. I’m not sure exactly when or how the trend started, but I assume that it was used in some hanfu photoshoots, people took notice and started copying, and it just snowballed from there:

Miao silver is well-known throughout China (if not the world), and there would’ve been cultural exchanges between the Han and Miao throughout history (Han people wearing Miao fashion and accessories, and vice versa). However, the use of Miao silver for crafting Han-style hair accessories to wear with hanfu is, from what I can tell, a recent trend that became popular purely for aesthetic reasons.

It’s gotten so popular to the point that nowadays, you can find all kinds of Miao silver hair accessories for hanfu all over Taobao :P

Hope this helps!
