rereading my own writing is just a constant fluctuation between "damn, girl, you wrote this? (affectionate)" and "damn, girl, you wrote this? (derogatory)"

Writing for yourself first might seem selfish, but it’s essential. You have to be fully engaged in your story. You have to write something you enjoy, something that sets your soul on fire. Otherwise, you won’t feel motivated, and you will perceive the entire process as a chore. Write for yourself first, don't worry about the audience. If something is done with love and passion, it naturally attracts the right audience.

Polar bears take over abandoned weather station !
Scientists left a Russian weather station in the Arctic three decades ago, and nature has since regained its place. Photographer Dmitry Kokh’s lens sensitively captured the phenomenon: multiple polar bears that turned the abandoned facility into a home and amusement park.
The images, taken on Koliutchin Island, in the Chukotki Sea, show the traces left by human beings: destroyed buildings, aged by time. Between walls with peeling paint, exposed pieces of rotting wood and rusty metal objects scattered in the countryside , the imposing bears stand out and even seem to strike a pose.

This is the most accurate description of my writing process that I’ve ever heard 😂
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

I have dreams of JKR seeing this, finding out about the Discord group and our AO3 group, and just how deep and crazy this fandom goes… and then she decides to grant us a special interview or fan club meeting. I know it’s super unlikely, but my poor little optimistic heart can’t help but dream 😂 ❤️

If you're a Cormoran Strike fan, do yourself a favor and listen to this AMAZING Christmas plea to JKR for the answer to a very important fan question. Lyrics, vocals, and video by the amazing EarlGreyForMe.

Wallpaper: A Cormoran Strike & Robin Ellacott Christmas!
I had a lot of fun with this one! I started with a promo photo from The Silkworm and did what I could to turn it into something Christmas-y (Corm's santa hat, the green and red coats a la Hallmark movie posters, Robin's gift bag).
The most fun, however, was adding in little easter eggs for you. There's a donkey, a dragonfly, a swan, a Wolfgang the dachshund, a bear, and a robin. Can you find them all?

Dear Fanfic Authors
It’s okay if your chapters are short.
It’s okay if you have to split things into parts.
It’s okay if it takes you a while to write your chapter.
It’s okay if you spend more time thinking about the story than writing it.
Don’t be afraid to have OC’s.
It’s okay if you need a break or go on hiatus.
It’s okay if you can’t keep writing this story anymore, if you’ve fallen out of love with it and need to stop it than and there.
It’s okay if the idea’s been done before, no two stories are ever the same.
It’s okay if you write on a website others don’t like.
It’s okay if you use head cannons.
It’s okay if you follow canon or completely disregard it.
It’s okay if your old writing makes you cringe.
What you guys do is a labour of love and you aren’t appreciated enough in your fandoms and communities. Writing is hard, and you guys pour your souls into it and deserve to be recognised for it. So from one fanfic author to another, be proud, you make art even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Well damn, if that isn’t every single one of my ships 😂
i propose the concept of a common law ship. if they eyefuck for seven years they’re married, no canon confirmation needed.

Me as a writer: Every single detail must make sense and be plausible.
Me as a reader: Oh no, it started raining? It’s not like people drive in the rain all the time, or anything. They’d better get a hotel like it’s the Victorian era to wait that shit out, and there’d better be only one bed!
me as a writer: Oh no I can’t write that, somebody else already has
me as a reader: hell yes give me all the fics about this one scenario. The more the merrier
