Why Are Transgender Men Underrepresented?
Tumblr media
When I came out as a transgender male I realised that transgender men are extremely under represented within the community, which can sometimes cause issues. Here are some of the reasons as to why transgender men are underrepresented; There are hardly any transgender male role models – When I search into google “Transgender role models” the first 8 results we’re female, which isn’t a bad thing of…

Tumblr media
As well as the LGBT+ role models, there are an awful lot of LGBT+ allies that go unnoticed. This blog post is to highlight my top 5 LGBT+ allies and why they are such amazing people; My Mum –…

Why is social media and technology taking over our lives?
Why is social media and technology taking over our lives?
Tumblr media
When I was a child I would be up at the crack of dawn getting ready to go outside to play with friends and I would go home when the street lights turned on. I was going on adventures, climbing up trees, climbing through bushes, playing sports or just getting super muddy. The first time I had an item of technology was a gameboy when I was around 6 years old but I didn’t rely on it on a daily…

We All Have Flaws Right?
Tumblr media
From when I was in school at the age of 4 until I was 16 I got picked on because of my biggest flaws. Each and every person on this earth has a flaw, whether its their teeth, weight or a birth mark. Some of my flaws can effect me on a daily basis, and some others don’t. Some of my main flaws are; My Weight – My weight has been an issue for a few years. Whenever I feel sad, down or bored I will…

Gender expectations
Tumblr media
When a woman is pregnant there are the usual comments that include “I wonder if ill be buying blue or pink”, which bugs me an awful lot. Why does the colour pink have to be associated with girls and why does blue have to be associated with boys?. As a child you have these expectations to follow “girl traits” or boy traits”. For example girls are expected to do ballet, netball, swimming and…

My Coming Out Story
My Coming Out Story
Tumblr media
I don’t think I’ve spoken about my coming out story on my blog, which is something that needs to be addressed. Speaking about my own experiences is something I do on a regular basis and knowing that I’m missing some vital information of my blog is worrying! So here I go: When I was around 11 years old I was living in Yorkshire and I started to develop breasts which broke my heart as I knew this…

Over the last 5 days there has been a lot of YouTubers commenting on the fact that there has been censors on certain YouTube videos, which included LGBT+ Videos. These censors are protecting children from watching certain types of videos and it limits videos to the viewers to ensure that they get the videos that they may want to watch.
As someone who watches YouTube videos on a daily basis, I am utterly shocked by this. I am disappointment as some of the most popular YouTubers are in fact LGBT. I understand that some videos may include comments or scenarios that children shouldn’t be watching, but knowing that education LGBT+ videos are being prevented from watching is heart breaking.
*The images below are show with and without the filters. The images without the filters will be on the Left hand side and the images with the filters will be on the Right hand side*
Ty Turner is a transgender YouTuber who documents his transition, talks about LGBT+ subjects and a variety of other subjects and most of his videos have been taken down due to him talking about his transition and other LGBT issues.
Calum McSwiggan is a British YouTuber who highlights different LGBT+ issues from porn, to HIV, to his own personal story and beyond. Calum has been one of the top people who has helped me during coming out and accepting who I am. The most worrying part of this is Calum has created over 100 videos, and with the filter on only ONE video shows up.
Alex Bertie is a British YouTuber who highlights transgender issues and his own personal story and his “Quest to find a beard” on his channel. Alex is also another strong role model of mine as when I came out, I would binge watch his videos as he was one of the only transgender role models online 4 years ago.
What is more worrying is the fact that Bisexual YouTubers are being portrayed as “straight”. If a bisexual Youtuber who is a woman makes videos about both men and woman, the videos that the individual may talk about past girlfriends / her bisexuality / woman will be restricted, which enables the viewers to assume that she is straight due to her only speaking about guys, which is utterly disgraceful.
My sister was two years old when I came out as transgender, and to this day she hasn’t batted two eyelids at it. She hasn’t been “influenced” by me, she hasn’t been scared for life the only thing that she has done is accept people for who they truly are. These days children are the most acceptable people within our society as they don’t care about an individuals background, gender, sexuality, age, race, religion.
YouTube, you are isolating LGBT+ children and young adults, Yes you are doing this in your best interest towards these young individuals, but you may cause damage.
I have been nominated for an award!!!
I have recently been nominated for the positive role model within the LGBT+ Community, which is awarded by the national diversity awards here in the UK. If you would like to vote for me, check out the link here.

Borderline Personality Disorder
Tumblr media
I got asked to write a blog post about borderline personality disorder and as someone who doesn’t have a first hand experience with it, I thought it would be better to approach a friend who suffers with it on a daily basis. My name is Ed, I’m 25 and I live with a mental illness called Borderline Personality Disorder; but just because I have this disorder, does not mean that I’m crazy, it just…

Why are people within the LGBT+ Community fighting with each other?
Why are people within the LGBT+ Community fighting with each other?
Tumblr media
Everybody assumes that every single person who identifies as LGBT+ gets along in rainbow land, which isn’t the case sadly. Firstly the whole LGB+ Community continues to question why on earth transgender is mixed in with a bunch of sexualities, when in actual fact, we don’t know why. Before the 1990’s the community was named as the LGB community, but over recent years the T has been added and…

I have recently been nominated by a close friend of mine for the national diversity award – as a positive role model within the LGBT+ community.
The National Diversity Awards – a prestigious black tie event, which celebrates the excellent achievements of grass- root communities that tackle the issues in today’s society, giving them recognition for their dedication and hard work.
The one thing that I love about the national diversity award’s is that they focus on a range of things like LGBT, Gender, Age, Disability and religion. A range of role models, charities, celebrities and community hero’s come together for this award to celebrate the positive changes that have been made by each individual.
To be shortlisted for this award people need to vote for the individual and highlight why they are voting for them so that the panel of judges can understand why the individual may deserve this award.
Being a teenager from a large city in South Wales, I never get taken seriously within the work I carry out. To be shortlisted for this award can enable me to reach out to a wider audience across the whole of the UK and help Transgender and LGB+ individuals get the equality that they deserve.
To vote, click on the link and it will direct you to the voting process: https://nominate.nationaldiversityawards.co.uk/nominate/endorse/30692?org=False
Thank you for all of the support everybody has given me recently, it means the world to me and I cannot thank you all enough x

Bullying
Tumblr media
Bullying is a physical, verbal, sexual or cyber form of torment to intimidate or abuse an individual. Bullying is always spoken about in day to day life, whether you are suffering from bullying, whether you’re a student being told that bullying isn’t tolerated or whether you have read a recent article about an individual committing suicide due to bullying. Bullying can happen to anybody of any…

Biphobia
Tumblr media
Biphobia is an issue that is rarely spoken about within the LGBT+ Community. Biphobia occurs when an individual dislikes or is prejudice towards a bisexual individual. Biphobia occurs on a daily basis, and recently I encountered it. One of the most common used terms towards a bisexual individual is that they are ‘greedy’ due to being sexually attracted to men, and women. In fact, bisexual…

Chemsex
Tumblr media
Chemsex is such a taboo subject within the LGBT+ Community, before a few months ago I was oblivious with what chemsex actually meant, and what happens when it happens. Chemsex is the sexual activity engaged in while under the influence of stimulant drugs such as methamphetamine or mephedrone, typically involving several participants. One of the reasons why the LGBT+ Community may take part in…

Being LGBT and suffering From A Mental Illness
Being LGBT and suffering From A Mental Illness
Tumblr media
Before I came out as transgender I suffered quite badly with my own mental health. I suffered from depression, suicidal thoughts, self harm and binge-eating. From the age of 10 I went through some life changing experiences which made me go through hell. Being LGBT+ can be a isolating, daunting, lonely time. If you are LGBT+ you have a much higher chance of being kicked out of your house, you have…
