Finally we have my fifth study of the week. This one turned out the best for the dark parts. It's hard to explain, but it involves a similar idea to painting light. Except dark. If there's any color to grab onto I mean. Actually I'm not sure that made sense but it made sense to me and that's what matters in the end.

For my fourth clothed figure study I tried scaled armor which made me realize that the scale and scope of this STUDY got out of hand lol. So I simplified the best I could. BRING BACK GOOD FANTASY COSTUMING.
Actually you know what? Disregard the man all together and focus on the unicorn. Yeah.
#art#art study#practice#watercolor#figure drawing#isn't it wild that tom cruise got to work with an actual unicorn?

My third clothed figure study. Painting dark things is harder then painting light things. Also men are kind of a growing weakness of mine. :V

Painting light colors is a lot of fun. There's a lot to grab onto if you know what to look for. (Dark colors on the other hand are....still a struggle for me as of right now lol. You'll see what I mean in due time.)

I am behind on posting gomen. Funny thing about this painting is that I painted it on St Patrick's Day. So I was covered when it came to the risk of being pinched lol.

And THIS ONE was my most recent one (Friday). I can see all the colors and variations in the shadows, and really pushed them as best as I could. It's just 3 colors overall. (Orange, Blue(s) and Magenta)

Same thing here the striations show up but whatever lol. This is the following day and each painting is a sequential day with the middle one being the most recent on the page. Bonus apple as well because I was filling up space.

I tried editing these in procreate and it worked overall! Interesting thing is it picked up that it was on a flat bed scanner with how the striations came out lol. I'll try a DSLR next time and see how that works out for larger paper.

I love how my camera makes the my watercolors oversaturated. Great. Love it. Scanning blows it out but my phone camera does the opposite. How do people post physical media pictures and keep the faithfulness of the original painting? 😭😭😭

You can only post one video at a time on this website. Freakin boo. I'll post the rest of the wave/ tail wag series today probably without commentary. (This is my second attempt to post this.)
I used an animation book for the reference because the wave concept was scrambling my brain.

Pog Ball 2. This is important because it has ease in and ease out frames. PLUS I managed to do it all in 12 frames (wasn't counting lol).

It bothers me not having anything to show. At the same time life has just started to calm down in such a way I'm doing the training grind again. My perspective is SCORES better then what it was for a start, I'm animating, and I'm trying my hand at oil painting! Which...is a form of artistic tonal whiplash because you're supposed to go from darkest darks to the lights. The complete inverse of water color. We shall see how far that goes, but I'm still jazzed all the same. If my grind drawings and practice studies looked better I would post them, but they're ugly (which is kind of the point lol). Coincidentally I need to do a portrait study. I'll try my hand at oil painting and post the results here. :)

I title this animation "Pog Ball". This is because not is the ball rolling across the screen it is rolling in perspective. A big flex on my end. (I have been studying perspective aggressively, and it's starting to pay off. :D)
Made in Procreate Dreams.

I got this reference from one @kaguzoo. Thanks for letting me use the photo!
I'm thinking about doing this picture in a proper long form painting as well. Really get that glaze/layering practice in. Plus the colors on this bird are so pretty. ;A;
